It's called RESPECT! When you're the ICON, it doesn't matter if you lost 9 offensive starters. Or that you lost a starting defensive end and his alternate, all three linebackers (one an All-American), a four year starter at corner (also and All-American) and a 3 yr starter at Strong Safety (National 1AA player of the Week following the Jackson State game). No matter at all when you're the ICON. You still get a pre=season ranking in the Top Ten.
Apparently someone is more impressed with our program and the talent on hand than they are with D1 washouts who transfer to SUspect programs. More impressed with us than they are with a quarterback who lead the country in defensive completions.

GRAMBLING - Grambling State has been voted the No. 10 team in The Sports Network's 2002 Preseason I-AA College Football Poll.
The Tigers went 10-1 last season, capturing their second straight Southwestern Athletic Conference and NCAA Division I National Black College champions. GSU finished ranked No. 8 in the final The Sports Network Poll for the 2001 season.
GSU's season-opening opponent, McNeese State, was ranked No. 11 in the preseason poll after finishing at 8-4 with a No. 17 ranking last year.
Grambling was only SWAC school ranked in the Top 25 poll. "Other" (2) SWAC schools receiving votes were Jackson State and Southern.
