Wrong Again Mak :lol:. There are 1890 Land Grant Universities (Which The SWAC Schools I named Fall Under), 1862 Land Grant Universities, and 1994 Land Grant Universities. Look it up on the Internet Mak. Jackson State University falls under NEITHER. Land Grant Money is FEDERAL MONEY. Alcorn will always be protected as an 1890 Land Grant Institution. The Federal Government will keep Alcorn open and not merged with anyone because we use their money to channel its cause through agricultural programs, etc. JSU and Valley are fair game because they are not covered by the Morrill Land-Grant Acts.

Sorry Mak, but Alcorn, SU, UAPB, AAMU, and PV shall always be one of the last ones standing if something were to happen to HBCUs.

And just for your information, FAMU, Tuskegee, SC State, Fort Valley State, AND NC A&T are Land Grant Institutions as well :lol:.

Land-grant universities (also called land-grant colleges or land-grant institutions) are institutions of higher education in the United States designated by each STATE to receive the benefits of the Morrill Acts of 1862 and 1890.
The Morrill Acts funded educational institutions by granting federally controlled land to the STATES for the STATES to develop or sell to raise funds to establish and endow "land-grant" colleges.

Like I said before dumass, the only reason JSU and Alcorn were started was because THEY didn't want us to ever attend Ole Miss or MSU. Alcorn is a member of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC) which was formed prior to 1887. Based on that membership, Alcorn is subject to the needs of the STATE in which it resides. This is why I, along with JSU, Alcorn, and MVSU students marched back when I was in college when Gov. Ray Mabus first talked about merging you guys. We were young then, we just wanted to be on t.v. and really wanted nothing to do with the likes of Alcorn.....your inordinate wealth of ignorance proves my point. And you (just like JSU) do operate under the STATE of MS. Your employees are paid by the STATE, your buildings were built by the STATE, even that leaf blower you operate on campus was bought by the STATE...is it sinking in yet sparkplug??

BTW, if you cannot be "touched" and be the last ones standing, why did the state of MS even embark on this issue just recently and over 20 years ago.

Like Tony pointed out to you earlier, you need to do some research bruh.

You do realize you can still have the Land Grant title as Jackson State University at Lorman.

I'm not sure if anyone told you or maybe they just left it up to you to figure it out....JSU colors are actually Royal Blue and White.

Correct, also if he knew that the Morrill Act was designed to ensured that at least one school
In each state taught farming, because there was a fear that agriculture knowledge would get lost during the industrial revolution.

Now how hard would it be for some other school ie Ole Miss, MS State, etc etc to start teaching animal husbandry?

This idea of a specific land grant school can’t be closed is misleading and silly


In other words BH there's nothing special about the land Alcorn sits on, the feds gave the land to the states
and told them to either build on the land or they could sell the land and use the proceeds to fund a school

the feds just want atleast ONE school in each state to always continue to teach farming
