Question for everybody

Dr. Phreeze

It is I...Yes it is...
Have you ever had that feeling as if something is bothering you mentally but you just can't pinpoint the problem? If so, how did you handle it?

Yes. For me it's two things:

My father's birthday is also the day he died.

My brother's birthday is the day we also had his funeral.

I used to just get angry for no reason on these days and the days leading up to it. I will never be over their deaths but I often wonder why my mood automatically changes during this time. It's not like I'm forcing myself to get angry or frustrated. It just seems to happens.

Another thing is there may be something deeply rooted that was so terrible that your subconsciously ignores it but it is there. I found this to be true and I sought out help to talk about my feelings. Soon it finally came out.

I always get upset/angry around Mothers Day. Moms accident happened shortly afterwards and she passed on June 2, 2005 , so late April going into May does it for me.

Her birthday was 11/7. Don't really get upset over that day. Thanksgiving and Christmas of last year were the first 2 holidays I didn't shed a tear.

The last time this happened to me was back in 2007. It was so bad that I had to pull over on the side of the road to catch my breath. I went to the doctor just to make sure nothing was wrong with me physically and she came back to tell me that I had an anxiety attack. I never got a chance to really grieve since my mother passed away back in 2004 when she lost her battle with breast cancer. I went to counseling and felt better as the days and months goes on. I guess I"m just worried about my father since he's getting up there in age. My aunt (his sister) passed away while taking care of my grandmother. Not only does he have to look after her, he has to take care of himself in the process . He did something extremely heart felt last month and it just stuck to me ever since....

The holidays are fast approaching and I can't go home for either one. Maybe that's it. I dunno... :noidea:

I feel you. My mother has no relatives in Grambling and is getting up in age. I turned down a job in DC because of that. It was hard for me to do but I knew that being here for my mom was the most important thing.

I go to sleep. Not just go to sleep...but get some GOOD rest. Even if I have to take a sleeping pill and turn off all ringers, alarms, etc. for hours.

Usually, my mind starts bothering me when I'm tired and I get anxious and make things bigger/worse than they are. After some good rest I can usually deal with what's bothering me. Even if it's just a mental issue.

Yeah, I'm there...I too wish I could pinpoint just WHAT it is? I sometimes feel its expectations--my late mom's for me, my dad's, my siblings, etc...and my own expectations. Sometimes being the overachiever is a blessing and a curse...

I don't know...just know I too feel anxious without obvious cause...

I always sorta know what's bothering me and what causes it. I just have a tendency to not openly express those somber emotions.

I go into much prayer when my mind is that disturbed/bothered. Most times I know what the problem is. I had many ROUGH, ROUGH nights when I was unemployed. Prayer calms me.

Yeah I have had my moments as well...... I remember all too well after losing my Daughter, 1st Cousin, Aunt, Grandfather, Bestfriend all about 10 months apart.....I greived, but being that the deaths happened so close together.. I had to suck it up and begin the greiving process again for another person.....

The last of those deaths happened in 2005. Well, 2007 I was riding to work, listening to the radio.... and all of a sudden I began to cry uncontrobably. I sat in the car in a Walmart Parking Lot for about 30mins.

Greiving is an important process for Whatever, happens in your life, Death, End of a Marriage/Relationship, etc. If you don't allow yourself to grieve properly, you will never Heal Properly and it will begin to manifest in other ways. .
