PV & Valley Owes La. Tech and Nicholls State $700K For Cancelled Games?

The contract for Nicholls State's canceled Sept. 5 game against Mississippi Valley State doesn't include a Force Majeure clause, which could force Mississippi Valley state to pay Nicholls the deal's $100,000 cancellation charge.

Louisiana Tech athletic director Tommy McClelland said his program intends to notify Prairie View A&M to pay them the $500,000 cancellation for their Sept. 19 game in Ruston.

The deal, which had Louisiana Tech paying Prairie View A&M $350,000, has a smaller Force Majeure clause, listing only "Acts of God and nature" and "Acts of Common Enemy." Moreteau said the pandemic qualifies under the phrase "nature."

"In our opinion," McClelland said, "we're having to reschedule the game due to their cancellation."

Prairie View A&M's clause in its home-and-home contract with Northwestern State is similarly short, including only "weather, fire, flood, earthquake, war or other acts of God and nature or acts of common enemy."

The cancellation fee for Northwestern State's Oct. 3 game at Prairie View A&M is $100,000, but athletic director Greg Burke said his department will instead "make every effort possible to reschedule that game."

Two schools with a racist past. The name Nicholls State says it all and Louisiana Tech was founded by former Louisiana Governor Mike Foster's great grandfather Murphy Foster who was a Confederate State army captain. Tech is only doing this as a means to go along with the dummy in the WH as business as usual. They definitely should be placed on a list of schools for Black athletes to avoid.

LaTech have already replace the PVAMU game with HBU who was suppose to play stu on that same weekend so that covers that. The Northwestern State game can easily be rescheduled since that is a home and home match up. They can be penciled in 2025 since we are playing them in 2024 at their place.
 
Let's call it for what it is. This is straight racist of LaTech, a school that was established during the start of the Jim Crow Era. IMO, they probably think Black folks shouldn't have the same rights as they do. They know there is a pandemic, but still wants Prairie View to pay them for cancelling the game. In other words, they think Black folks can't make conscious decisions for the health and welfare of their student-athletes. This is why Black athletes should blackball schools like LaTech.

SHSU (at least for now) was smart enough to stay away from publicly asking for the money back

Which once again baffles me as to why so many people from the LA congregation flock to Ruston to support them but "hate going to Valley or Pine bluff"

Maybe I'm built different as far as not supporting racist institutions

It starts in that Louisiana Bible Belt, which begins right after a person crosses the Red River into Pineville, LA heading north. There are some deep seeded racist communities in some of those rural areas back in the woods of North Louisiana, which is another reason why North Louisiana is so much different than South Louisiana.

This article states what could potentially happen, but Louisiana Tech has already made it public that they would be seeking compensation.

Where did you get that from? SU hadn't played at Valley in years! And SU's fanbase didn't travel to PIine Bluff last season because the band didn't go. The band understandably had trimmed back its regular traveling schedule in order to accommodate its Rose Bowl destination. When Valley rotates back onto the SU schedule, you will see Jaguars as usual by the RVs and busloads. I will admit that, for me, it was a difficult route to navigate initially, but became easier in succeeding visits. Nonetheless, any traveling difficulty I might have experienced gave way to my yearning to support the gold and blue. We will be there!
