Prairie View A&M Ranked Top Tier HBCU by U.S. News & World Report

THE PVAMU

Oh Shaela'.....
Prairie View A&M University has been ranked a top tier university by U.S. News & World Report’s 2010 “Best Colleges†rankings of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). PVAMU is the only Texas school ranked in the survey’s top tier category.

PVAMU ranks in the top tier of HBCU’s – those numerically ranked from 1 to 35 out of the 90 HBCU’s considered for the 2010 rankings. The colleges were compared only with one another for the rankings and PVAMU is ranked no. 35 among the nation’s HBCUs.

Institutions were rated based on a specialized HBCU peer survey combined with statistical data including graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.

In order to be on the list, a school must be listed as part of the U.S. Department of Education's Historically Black Colleges and Universities registry. The Higher Education Act of 1965 defines an HBCU as "any historically black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of black Americans, and that is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association determined by the Secretary [of Education] to be a reliable authority as to the quality of training offered or is, according to such an agency or association, making reasonable progress toward accreditation."

Good work PV even though I do not agree with these folk and their rankings.

Second why does it seem like this report comes out almost every 3 months.
