Is she black? She must not be black. I don't see anything on here about this situation, so she must not be black. Can someone confirm?
 



Im thinking she has to be since espn interviewed the guy that lead the olympic potest.
But bart I wouldn't say she dissed the flag, what she did was utilize the rights that are giving to her by the flag. :tup:

No doubt she excersized a right, and I'm excersizing my right to characterize her act. Just because she has the right to protest doesn't mean that it all stops there. It, in slang terms, was a diss as I see it. :|
 
First, she is white. they showed her on ESPN. I feel that she doesn't have the right to use the basketball game for her school as a platform for her protest. If she wants to protest, she can do it before the game, or after the game. But when she puts on the school uniform, she should not be able to use it publize her protest. Esp. when federal dollars probably help put the school there she is using to protest.

Come on lewis...federal dollars?aka.tax dollars which is our's that we pay and so does her parents.
Not some group of people call govt.
 
Disrespect is what she is doing

Tell her to go to Iraq and become a Human Shield and she if she survives when some Steel Rain drop on her azz from the ones who allow her the freedom to do that stupid schnit.

That's her freedom and right that has been provided for by many who have lost their lives defending that flag.
 
I don't see anything wrong with it. She doesn't agree with the war, and neither do I. If she feels that turning away from the flag is her way of protesting the war, then so be it. It kills me how these military folk always get bent out of shape and say some stupid isht like "leave the country" because we don't all agree with how everything is done here. :rolleyes:

The problem here is that she dissed the flag and not the government. It has nothing to do with tax dollars.

Since the university president/administration does not view her as representing the university with the uniform on, I suppose she can just do whatever she wants.

I do respect her right to protest AS AN INDIVIDUAL REPRESENTING HERSELF ALONE. My problem is that she IS representing the university in this protest and not just herself.

I'm with unknown on this one. We (Americans) always talk about the "freedoms" we have here. Then when one of us excersise a "freedom" that goes against the popular opinion, we (Americans) are quick to tell them to leave the country, call them names and otherwise ridicule them. We (Americans) are the most hypocritical people on the face of this earth.

I have listened to umpteen people on talk shows, news and other media say what they would do to her or should do to her. They are no different than Castro, Saddam Hussein, Quadafi or any other dictator. The only difference is Castro, Hussein and Quadafi actually have the power to do what many Americans think should be done. And that's sad, IMO.

I have no problem with what she is doing, taking a stance against this needless war. She is not 'against the US' or our service men and women - this is a stance against the policies of this counties current administration.

Her stance is an example also of why people should leave the subject of prayer in schools alone....We are not a tolerant people as a whole. And if someone does not agree with "our" point of view, then that person becomes all kinds heathons and everything else.

Robber and Unknown have hit it on the head voicing their opinions and I co-sign with them on this.


I am in major protest of not only this WAR but the Thief(ives) that stole the election and the entire administration. People are losing jobs everyday, the economy is as scary as it has ever been in my adulthood, our domestic problems are growing so far out of control - but this idiotic President of ours is still trying to fight a war that his father tried to fight. He (Old Bush not "Lil" Bush) sent people over to fight - then when they get back after being exposed to all kinds of chemical warfare, this country says that all of the Gulf War vets are making it up, there is nothing wrong with their bodies.

This young ladies silent protest is the least of this country's problems. Even Lil Bush has already acknowledged that the Thousands of people that led major protest on the 15 of Feb and beyond, are in his words "insignificant".

Would I want to be in another country? No. But being that I was born in this country, pay taxes in this country, and am (supposedly) guaranteed rights by this country - I have the freedom to exercise ALL of those rights promised to me. And as should be - we should all be able to Disagree without being Disagreeable...think about it....peace
 



It's her right to protest this war in any lawful way she sees fit.

As a sidebar....... people will never admit to this, but America has slowly become a dictatorial state in its own right in that the government does whatever the hell it pleases irregardless of the people's will. Example: See Bush's insistance on fighting this war without regard to any diplomatic efforts or public opinion. Basically we're prepared to violate U.N. rules and bomb people for violating U.N. rules. :confused: What kind of sense does that make, and just how different are we from totalitarian regimes when we slander citizens for expressing their constitutional rights?
 
Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf(Chris Jackson) took a similiar stance and he got black balled from the NBA. A black muslim male refuses to honor the flag and he gets blasted. Some ofay broad refuses to face the flag and she gets support from her university and a 3 minute piece on ESPN.

Preach Brotha Preach!!!! You know you DAYUM RIGHT with what you are saying. Even if it was just a BLACK PERSON Period. The more and more WE as BLACK PEOPLE try to get our little piece of the American Dream, there is always some mother-humper ther with his foot on our necks. If we make our opinions known they are always dismissed as not being credible or not coming from a credible source???????

God know i respect the right for everybody to have an opinion,but man if some of you would stop and listen to what your saying .

As soon as somebody stands up to use their rights here comes the military guys.Its amazing to me how one day their talking about how "the govt."treats black so unfair the genicide etc.
Then the next day they can't wait to go get slauther or mame for this same govt. thats has alway put their @sses up front as pawns.

Second, part of the American Dichotomy is that people will fight for the rights of those to protest their fighting.

Being opposed to the war is NOT the same as being pro-Saddam or pro-terrorism. Quit listening to the BS propaganda.
