Leon Maisel referred to Mobile as the College Bowl Capital of the United States during Monday's press conference officially announcing the Pioneer Bowl as another event on the city's calendar.
Maisel, president and CEO of the Mobile Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau, was joined by Mayor Mike Dow as well as Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner Dr. William Lide and Mobile Bay Pioneer Bowl co-chairman Michael Pierce in making the announcement with the LeFlore High School Marching Band providing the entertainment.
The game will take place Dec. 4 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium and will feature the conference winners of the SIAC and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Bowl officials have a three-year contract to play the game in Mobile.
