QUEEN LIONESS!!!
This past Saturday (December 5th), Pine Bluff High School faced Greenwood for the 6A State Championship here in Little Rock at War Memorial. It was a perfect opportunity for me to check out LaDarius Skelton, the young QB who verbally committed to Southern. I wanted to see what the Jags had (possibly) gained and what my Golden Lions (possibly) missed out.

Prior to the game, this is what opponent Greenwood coach Rick Jones had to say about LaDarius:

"You have to do something that no one has been able to do so far, and that's tackle him," Jones said. "It doesn't matter who they play. The common denominator is they haven't been able to tackle him. He's a man running among children."

During the game, I gathered some stats on LaDarius to pass along to the Jags. I was doing a lot of cheering and may have missed some things, but this is what I have:

1stQ

First possession:
15yd run on QB keeper
14yd handoff to TB/RB Romar Reades for 14yd TD; PAT good
Pine Bluff High Zebras put the first points on the board: PBHS 7 vs Greenwood 0
9:27

Next Possession: converted on 3&7 for a QB keeper
After a turnover: 3yd pass
7yd pass for a TD; PAT good
Pine Bluff High 14 vs Greenwood 7 3:42

Next Possession: conversion on 2&9 with 33yd pass
False start on 2&11
QB keeper for 1yd gain

2ndQ

False start on 3&8
QB keeper for 4yd gain on 4&9

Next possession: Handoff to R. Reades for 7yds
QB keeper for 52yd TD run; PAT good
Pine Bluff High 21-14 4:53

Next Possession: conversion on 3&11 with 51yd pass
False start
Conversion on 2&16 with 25yd TD pass; PAT good
Pine Bluff High 28-21

Next Possession: conversion on 2&8 with 10yd QB keeper
Pass intercepted with 15 seconds to half

Halftime Score: Pine Bluff High 28 vs Greenwood 21

3rdQ

QB keeper for 6yds
Conversion to 1st down with 4yd handoff to R. Reades

False start on 4&13

4thQ (Ride or Die)

False start on 1&10

QB keeper for 4yds on 3&8
9:37 left to go

Next Possession: QB keeper for 7yd gain

Next possession: after the kick, with the ball on the 1yd line, QB keeper, converts to 1st down
Conversion on 3&6 with 16yd run (QB keeper)

With 2:29 left to go, Greenwood punts, but Pine Bluff gets the ball! The Pine Bluff High Zebras allow clock to run out.

The Pine Bluff High Zebras win their 2nd consecutive 6A State Championship!
Final Score:

Pine Bluff High School 28 vs Greenwood 21

PBH Zebras finish with a perfect season of 13-0!

MVP of the game: LaDarius Skelton

The child was able to successfully convert on 3rd down, a few of those conversions were with some sizable yardage. I also didn't know the child was a duel threat player (QB/DB), but I don't believe he played both sides of the ball during his last year.

But I also noticed the false starts. I know those are not always entirely the fault of the QB, but the QB controls the snap and call. About 5 false starts were against PBHS; he'll need some work on that.

Still don't know how or why Coach Coleman missed this kid.:(

Well, it's been almost 3 years since I posted this, and I see that LaDarius Skelton has grown up:

October 13, 2018- Southern University at Prairie View A&M (Prairie View, TX)
4 TDs:
1 passing (168yds)
3 RUSHING (202yds)
27 carries (15/27)

LaDarius has proven mobility, no doubt about that. The child can run. But when that child converted on 3rd&26, I was like, "WOW", and then I remembered this thread.

I see Ladarius is getting more comfortable as a passer. If he becomes a better passer NFL will be taking a peak at him because he has the size plus he looks like a grown man out there.

He’s the 2018 version of Jonathan Williams of Grambling or the KJ Black of PV

Sat around and didnt play a game or so and once the lights came on he performed and everyone behind him was an afterthought

All went to a championship game or came close to one in year one
