Northwestern baseball coach Jim Foster was fired Thursday amid allegations of misconduct, three days after football coach Pat Fitzgerald was dismissed because of a hazing scandal.
Foster spent just one season as the Wildcats' coach. The move was announced in a brief statement from athletic director Derrick Gragg.
"Nothing will ever be more important to Northwestern than providing its students a place that allows them to develop in the classroom, in the community, and in competition at the absolute highest level, and building a culture which allows our staff to thrive," Gragg said.
"This has been an ongoing situation and many factors were considered before reaching this resolution. As the director of athletics, I take ownership of our head coaching hires and we will share our next steps as they unfold."
People are using hazing as a cover and acting like straight up predators. Start off with little stuff, then keep pushing it further and further until they start violating people (just like they do in prison). My heart goes out to anyone who suffers abuse BUT some of this stuff that people call hazing is ummmmm yea.

The problem is these coaches and school prey on young man because of some of their financial background and the power they have over them. In the Iowa case some of the black players stated that they did not speak out because they were afraid they would loose their scholarships and be kicked off the team (scholarships are up for renewal yearly). While hitting the schools in the pocks will help deter some of this, I think the only thing that would put a stop to this type of stuff is federal criminal cases on the schools and the coaches\players involved.
While I am supporter of HBCUs, don't act like this can't happen at HBCUs either. The most recent case happen at NSU under two different coaches (which the last coach still is the head coach of the football team) and the school had to settle late last year (all the local reporting state there was video and picture evidence to backup the two students that came forward). Also, don't forget the whole Coppin State issue as well and I know of case of this happen at ECSU at a certain fraternity that was straight up violating pledges.

2 lawsuits against NSU allege hazing, sexual harassment on football team
Two people who played football for Norfolk State University have filed federal lawsuits alleging they were hazed, sexually assaulted and harassed while in the program.www.wavy.com
Got to get that new t shirt for the cameraNo. They prey on this because this is where their parents want them to go.

Something similar literally happened at Norfolk State last year and it was crickets from the national press despite players coming forward and attorneys being retained. We know stuff like this happens at HBCUS.
It boils down to how it is weaponized. Against us (and others) versus them.
See Baylor and it's MANY scandals. Yet you still saw a line of folks running to get into that school.
Look how fast they recovered after the football scandal. Same with the basketball team back in the tourny after 4 years.
Now look at Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball. 14 years and no winning record. Thanks to their scandal.
Depending on the program how much damage remains at the end and how much the media harps on it.
If this was PV-we would NEVER hear the end of it. Northwestern? BY 2027-we won't hear about it.
I thought that was a given that the stuff would be weaponized on us more than them, as that has always been the case with our people's history in this country. Look no further than Penn State, as the NCAA change their decision on some of the restrictions they put on the school as soon as the football got good again. To me our schools should be run in the best shape as possbile, as when such things happen at the PWI schools our schools should be able to offer a safe space for these young men (not just for what they can do on the field, but rather because HBCUs were design to be that safe space for out people in a country that is hostile to us).We know stuff like this happens at HBCUS.
