Part of White House Evacuated Over Bomb Scare

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Secret Service ordered part of the West Wing of the White House evacuated on Thursday after a bomb-sniffing dog reacted to a car parked in the driveway.
"As a result of the security situation on the driveway, which involves a dog that smelled a car and started to bark, we need to ask everyone to leave," said White House spokesman Ari Fleischer.
The car apparently belonged to a participant in a Medicare event that President Bush held in the Rose Garden.
Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were in the West Wing but were not evacuated.
The side of the West Wing facing the north lawn of the White House was being evacuated. That included members of the White House press corps and Fleischer's office complex.
