In this day and age, no and no.

So as educator what should we do with your child if he/she is acting out???

I'ma call and bug yo azz RIGHT AT WORK, and document all that boorish assed behavior, until SOMEONE is pissed off enough to do something about it, or all my documentation gets his/her ass sent off to AEP or some isht.

That's what I'M gone do. Can't speak for anyone else.

You call a parent and disrupt their work day as their kid is disrupting yours enough times, they're either going to get with that kid, or get his ass the hell outta my classroom.

I win either way. :D

I say give the teachers more power to whoop these kids ass.

That's what's wrong with the schools and society as whole. We aint beating our kids ass when the fuk up. Then they grow up and start stealing, killing and raping folx cause we didnt curve (curb) that behavior when they were little.

Teachers are like sarogate parents when the kids are at school.
They should treat them with the same respect they would if you were standing right next to them in class.

Very, very, very good post SON! Excellent! I agree 100%. Yes sir! Esp the part about the surrogate parents. Teachers really are and should be treated w/ the exact same respect & dignity as a child's parent.

I would say call me and let me punish my child. Even though I was spanked/paddles when I was in elementary by the teachers, I would rather that I did the discipline. The teacher could call me if my child is acting up and let me speak with him.

One of my coworkers was reassigned pending an investigation because a parent said that he was too rough with her child while breaking up a fight. The truth is the kid hit him and he still only held the child by the back of his pants, yet there was a news story on it and the mother is publicly calling for this teacher's (a very good teacher by the way) job. Never did they mention that this child just returned to school after making bail because he has a charge of attempted murder hanging on him, and a juvenile rap sheet as long as my arm, and for this reason CPS is looking to remove him from the home with his mother anyway, but the teacher is the one suffering, thats bullshat. There were no less than 3 fights at the school yesterday, and I advised teachers not to break em up. Just call the officer and wait for them to tire out or kill each other, but fugg putting my job, freedom, and life on the line for an unappreciative public and system that expects you to do the impossible with absolutley no support at all!

I am sorry but sometimes GUD just has to ask himself where is education headed these days. We need to be able to put a little fear in these kids life. Most districts or should I speak on the two I have worked for are all about the parents and the kids. Oppps I forgot about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ also!!!!!

MAN THIS IS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDD AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!!!

Even though I was spanked/paddles when I was in elementary by the teachers.

We had that back during my days, too! Even up until high school (early 90s).

You know, I sorta take back my statement. It may really depend on my relationship with the teacher. If my trust level is high with the teacher and I KNOW he/she ain't there to collect a check and has my child's geniune interest at heart, I'll may allow corpal punishment (though I don't think my husband would approve and he has the last say). I would just ask that I be informed of everything and see everything documented.

When I was a kid, CP was available and I got it in more ways than one. If I had to be paddled at school, then my mama whipped my ass at home.

So are you going to leave work and come and discipline your child????

Should we continue to put up with the disrespect until you get there???? See this is why I am debating going back into the classroom. Folks think you are not suppose to touch their kids and they tell them that and the end result is a smart arse teenager screaming you cannot touch me *****( is way out of line)...

I disagree. I want my soon to be disciplined by the people who have are with him the majority of the day. Stop the BS right when it happens and then I will handle his behind when I get him home. When I was growing up ANY adult could straighten a kid out. Don't wait for me, if you care about him and MOST teachers do, you correct that behavior right there. Now there are teachers how are rotten SOBs, but you know who they are immediately when you meet them.

And Nita is right, calling me at work gets me into ACTION mode, because I can't leave my office or court to deal with his bad ass. My son had problems last semester adjusting to middle school and he was acting out in class, just doing horribly. I found out what the trip was and did some behavior modification, met with the teachers to tell them I supported him and now he has calmed down and back to business. He is not a bad kid, very polite, kind and obedient. He had some issues and I cancelled his subscription. :lecture: He's doing great now! But you have to allow the teachers to get them in line when they are disruptive right at that moment. Not allowing teachers to discipline your child is a BIG MISTAKE.

"Good morning! I'm SO SORRY to be keeping you from doing your job, but at the moment, your child is keeping me from doing mine. Since I'm sure we ALL have an EXTRAORDINARY amount of something to do today, would you mind taking a few minutes to speak on his behavior with him? He's right here. Well, sir, the entire class is here, as well. Put you on speaker, anyway? Okay, then! Just ONE MOMENT!!" :D

I've NEVER had to do that to a kid more than once.
