Opening Day : SWAC Baseball

Good baseball so far on opening weekend. Getting ready to head to The Juice Box for the afternoon and evening games.

SU 1
UCI 0

Top 4th

I knew we would struggle against this pitcher. I hope we can get some hits against the new pitcher in the 5th.

A costly error. The catcher had the runner caught in a jam but under threw the 3B.

UCI 2
SU 1

Top 4th - New pitcher for SU.

When you play against teams like this, they wait for you to make a mistake. The problem is the same with all SWAC schools. They can lead in games like this until the 6th or 7th inning and they just self destruct.

Going to the bottom of the 4th.

I hope the kids playing the game looks at it as just a error like any other game and not self destruction.

FINAL: - GAME 1

FINAL: GAME 1

AAMU - 2

Rain/weather is affecting a lot of games this weekend.

Error/self destruct it doesn't matter. When you are playing against teams like this, they wait on you to make an error. Our pitching was great, we just couldn't get anything going on offense but after that error, things took a turn. We didn't lose bad but we could have gotten out of the inning with a tied ball game. It probably wouldn't have made a difference but who knows.

A win today and AAMU will have started the season off winning the opening series. Not many SWAC teams have won their 1st opening series against non-conference D1 opponents. to AAMU!!!

Texas Southern first baseman Cameron Logan experienced the atmosphere in a major league stadium prior to this weekend's MLB Urban Invitational at Minute Maid Park.

The senior once attended a big league game to watch cousin Nook Logan, who played for the Detroit Tigers (2004-05) and Washington Nationals (2006-07). He also saw an Astros game with his cousin a few years ago.

Playing on the Astros' field was memorable, and Logan relished it.
