Open Letter to Pete Richardson...

Loyalty & Respect
Dear Pete,

I know you are out there in cyber land reading somewhere. I hope this message reaches you in good spirit and health and that you are staying strong. Pete, thanks for your contributions to the SWAC.

As a young kid in the early 90’s, I watched as you rescued a horrible, traditionless Southern University football program from the depths of mediocrity. Even though I was sometimes forced to watch as my beloved Jackson State University came out on the losing end of the stick, I respected your program Pete. You won BCF national championships and your fair share of titles. I even said a small cheer when LSU allowed you guys to participate in their 2004 championship parade.

However, as you now know. You can’t trust light skinned folks who use rat tail combs Pete. I watched how those yellas turned on you after you started repeatedly losing to the Mighty JSU as all the Southern coaches before you did. After all you did to pull that sad school out the gutter; this is how they repay you. After you had to explain to the rest of the country why your players had to lie face first on the football field to duck gunshots and why you had to hire extra security so that your white quarterback could make it safely to class, this is the thanks that you get? The SU brass bragged about how they would replace you with a big name coach and the AD went out and hired his homeboy. That is a slap in the face of your legacy Pete.

It just ain’t right Pete. I am writing you this letter to let you know that Daddy has not let this gone unnoticed. We will seek your revenge just like we prevented Gram from winning the first Eddie Robinson trophy because of how they treated him. This year, when we beat the living daylight out of Lafleur’s Homeboy, we want you to know, that part of this is for your memory. I would even like to offer the opportunity to come sit on the JSU side so that you are not stuck standing outside the stadium like the late Great Eddie Robinson back in 1999. This one is for you Pete.

Internet Pete, I too supported you when these yellas came out against you. JR and I went toe to toe "like Mosely (Jr) and Mayweather (me)" about your untimely departure. I too felt that those Southern "crawfish head SUcking" La folks treated you badly. You have always been a "class-act" in my book (except for that time when you didnt shake JC's hand after your place-kicker missed that FG). Internet Pete, you will forever be a legend on this board.

PS. If you ever need a ticket to a JSU/SUcks game, you can pick it up at will call on me, since the next match-ups will be held in Memorial for the next 10 years.

Hey Pop,

Did you ever write a letter to coach bell titled "boy, this bench sholl is warm"

:)

Why yall do ole Pete like this. Yall gone give Pete a PT Cruiser at halftime of the bayou classic as well.

You know, If I didn't give a damn or wasn't worried about a team or school, I wouldn't acknowledge them or their program.

Anyone want to check on how many threads a certain group has made about Southern University just since Mitchell was hired?

FEAR. Apparently, it's what's for dinner .... in Jackson, Mississippi.

Pop, you do know Pete is still getting a check from SU. Also has been seen on campus and is quoted in saying that he feels like he is a real member of the Jaguar Nation now and will be at the games. Pete was tired. He knew it was time.

Pete is still popular with a lot of folks in Baton Rouge. It aint as deep as you think it is with his firing. Now on the other hand yall ran poor Bell and then his homeboy Culberson out of Jackson like it was no tomorrow. You are too young to know how folks treated ole WC Gordon back in the day. It wasn't all that nice by the street committee at JSU. Especially when he was the AD. It took a long time for a lot of them old timers to accept WC being JSU football coach and some still never liked him since he was a Tn State alum. Some of your own former JSU greats didn't like ole WC. I always thought it was a shame how he was treated by them. All he did was win. Oh well.

JR, are you speaking for the 10 percent of JSU folks who may have had issues with WC? What about the 90 percent who idolized the man? Just asking.

All I am saying WC didn't have it easy. Pete actually had it easier than WC did. WC was at least smart enough to retire from coaching before it got bad for him. Which in my opinion he retired too soon.

Folks always idolize the coach after they are gone. Same will happen with Pete. Trust me. WC had a lot of detractors in the stands when I was growing up in Jackson. I sat in those same stands and heard the moans and groans from fans who thought he couldn't win the big game(mainly the Grambling game) ,win a playoff game or beat Tn State consistently. Especially during the late 70s and early 80s. He got on a great run in the mid 80s and finally shut up a lot of them kind of folks. But hell, he was winning before that. He didn't get fully appreciated until he was done coaching. The AD stint didn't help matters either.

Pete never has had to endure that when he was winning. Don't know why WC did. Wasn't like Bob Hill was a better coach than him. Heck you had to go back to Big John Merritt at JSU to get a coach as good as WC. So that's why I never understood the beyotching about WC. Then as I got older I realized it was him not being a JSU grad for alot of them old heads. The folks that really revere WC are my age and slightly older than me JSU grads. Them real old timers had to come around. Well they were not old back then. They are those mid/late 60s and older folks now.

JR, you're exaggerating to the n-th degree but we'll perhaps give you such leeway since you know FIRST HAND how serious we take our football here in Jackson.

WC had a huge following in Jackson. How else did he stay here as long as he did? His longevity is clear proof that you overexaggerated. No surprise though, seeing where you come from since leaving Jackson.

Yeah I shole fell down after leaving Jackson. My life is so bad now. Never should have left.:retard:

Dude aint nobody exaggerating. My best friend will tell you the same isht and he marched in the Boom and we all grew up seeing that crap from Fans in the stands back then. My old man used be shaking his head and getting into arguments with stupid mofos who thought Gordon couldn't beat Coach Rob or win enough against Tn State. Some idiots even thought he took an easy on Tn State because he went there. LOL. Man it was comical in Memorial sometimes. Oh well believe what you want. I know what I saw and heard.

Don't know how old you are, but I was around the program back then. Too many of my peoples suited up at JSU in football. One thing I don't have to do is exaggerate about that time period. Folks were ingrates at times about ole WC. And he had more detractors than you think. Some was instigated by cats who played at JSU back in the 60s. No one said he was going to get fired. JSU would have been stupid to do that. Peoples and then Heffner wouldn't have done that anyway. LOL. Hell yall gave poor Big Daddy grief.

JR,
I remember when I used to read TSPN back as a freshmen in 2003 and you were always bragging on Pete. What made you turn your back on ole Pete? Was it because he shook GR's hand or was it over him posing for Sarge? I even heard that ole Pete signed up for a TSPN account back in the day to come on here and take up for you.

When Jr starts writing these long ass books you know he is nervous. Yall bout to get embarrassed without Pete

Hughes should have brought you DUMMIES up on charges the way y'all abused him. How dare you ingrates treat the man that scrubbed and cleaned azzless draws for a quarter of a century like that! :emlaugh:
