NFL: Saints defense had 'bounty' fund

Between 22 and 27 defensive players on the New Orleans Saints, as well as at least one assistant coach, maintained a "bounty" program funded primarily by players in violation of NFL rules during the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons, the NFL announced Friday.

The investigation by the league's security department determined that an improper "pay for performance" program included "bounty" payments to players for inflicting injuries on opposing players that would result in them being removed from a game.

The findings, corroborated by multiple independent sources, have been presented to commissioner Roger Goodell, who will determine the appropriate discipline.

Discipline for the Saints could include fines, suspensions and forfeiture of draft choices.

Vikings fans already think they were putting out a lot of cheap and late shots on ole Brett Favre. This will add fuel to their fire about the Saints and that NFC title game for them. LOL.

Ole Farve handed the ball off and still got hit.

Vikings fans are still pissed off about the non calls in that game. Livid is the word. Now if this investigation finds any truth to it. Then they will go hang themselves.

Don't forget about what happened to Kurt Warner.

Yes, it was clear that they were aiming at Favre's knees and the refs refused to throw any flags to protect him.

In a statement, Greg Williams says the program was a "terrible mistake and we knew it was wrong while we were doing it." Now the defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams, Williams adds, "I am truly sorry" and promises not to participate in similar activities again.

How can it be a "mistake" when you then admit knowing the practice was wrong? It was not a mistake, Greg. :retard:

I remember that hit on Kurt. That's why I wouldn't spit on that SOB (Greg Williams) if he was on fire. Dirty SOB.

The Saints is just a team that got caught. I firmly believe EVERY NFL team is doing this....especially with all of the new rules...next thing you know the NFL will be playing flag football.

Of course the Saints are/were not the only team bounty hunting just like the Pats were not the only team in the NFL who were illegally taping opponents. However, that doesn't make it right, though. It's sickening that a team, player or coach would encourage guys to intentionally injury opponents.

Sure, football is a very physical, violent sport. But players shouldn't be going on that field with a sadistic mindset, considering there is the real possibility that those involved in the bounty pool could end the career and take food off the table of cats and their families.

You better believe Rodger Goodell is going to drop an anvil on the Saints.

Just because the Saints did it doesn't mean that everyone else is doing it. They have some teams with the mindset of playing CLEAN football and not making stupid cheap shots and late hits out of bounds.
