NATO had suspended formal contacts with Russia Tuesday

OSLO, Norway - Russia has informed Norway that it plans to cut all military ties with NATO, Norway's Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

The Nordic country's embassy in Moscow received a telephone call from "a well-placed official in the Russian Ministry of Defense," who said Moscow plans "to freeze all military cooperation with NATO and allied countries," State Secretary Espen Barth Eide at the Norwegian ministry said.

Eide told The Associated Press that the Russian official notified Norway it will receive a written note about this soon. He said Norwegian diplomats in Moscow would meet Russian officials on Thursday morning to clarify the implications of the freeze.

Broke? Do you realize while we have been bogged down in an uneccesary war Russia has been rolling in cash? Do you realize that EUROPE DEPENDS on Russia for Oil? They are far from broke.

Upon further review our Country is the one that's broke. China owns our debt, record inflation, Housing Market collasping.

Exactly. We should be the last country to call another country broke.

Dude, that stuff you're hearing on CNN and FOX is pure propaganda BS. Russia's economy is much stronger than ours right now, as is China's. So is their military and manpower. All that CNN garbage is just that.....garbage.

:lmao::lmao:

China's economy isnt stronger than ours right now but it will be in less than 20 years. Not to mention we've borrowed billions from China. Russia's economy is strong and has grown but it's not as strong as ours. Russia's military power is strong as well as their allies.

-Chinese economy's growth rate has averaged 9% since the early 1980s

-40% of China's output goes to exports, so there's no crippling foreign debt
-China's savings rate is over 35% compared with America's 2%

-Thanks to $60 billion a year in direct foreign investment, combined with a trade surplus, China's foreign currency reserves are now more than $1 trillion

-China's fixed assets -- ports, bridges, roads -- double every two and a half years.

-Jim's bottom line: "If projections hold, China will surpass the United States as the world's largest economy in as little as 20 years

A question to ponder: How can a country that prints and produces it's own currency be broke???????

Because we live in a Global Economy. By pumping the market with new currency it will only sky rocket inflation and further cheapen the value of the dollar. For example, you may have to pay 10-20 dollars for a loaf of bread when if the dollar isn't worth anything.

If no other country honors your money, then your money is worthless. They dont care how much you produce. Just like degrees. If the rest of the world dont honor it, they dont care how many you graduate and give them to.

Russia's Military aint good.......and their economy aint strong either, it has improved from where it used to be but still has a long way to go. We have several business sites over there and it aint a bed of roses. Alot of corruption is going on. I have weekly conversations with my Russian counterparts. Their big export is oil. But they eat up their profits getting food from everybody on imports.

They are not dead broke.......but they aint rolling. Notice even how their Olympic teams suck now.... no money to fund them like they used to. They do not have the money and power as they did as the former Soviet Union. I had predicted years ago with all those provinces forming out of the former USSR that it would civil war for power between some of them. Russia and Georgia conflict is one of them.

Mexico prints it's own currency. People needs to realize that money doesn't mean a thing if you don't have the product to back it up.

Even during the Cold War, Russia's military wasn't all that great. The only way Russia could compete with the United States and NATO was to overwhelmed others with large numbers, which was one of the reasons why they went broke.

Very true. Of course President Reagan spent a ton of money as well to stay way ahead of them. I can attest to that personally being on a Submarine during that time period. Russia had numbers for their ground fighting force, but Reagan broke them trying to keep up with us. So much so that they got their arses kicked in Afghanistan when the US supplied weapons to the Afghan rebels who were lead by Bin Laden. :retard: But that is another story.

Russia was so broke that during the time I worked at the Space Center in Houston on the International Space Station project, they were always late and had some excuse of why they couldn't finish their part of the station. Always a money issue. The US had to build backup Nodes for the station just in case the Russians couldn't finish their part. It was a constant headache for us. Alot of corruption happened after Gorbachev resigned.

As an Army Combat Engineer during the Cold War, I noticed that this country was way more advanced when the United States started introducing new weaponry, like the M-1 Abram Tank.

I can attest to that personally being on a Submarine during that time period.

People need to read the book, "Blind Man Bluff". This book inspired several submarine movies, such as, K-19, The Hunt for Red October, and Crimson Tide.

LOL. It is a small world. There are quite a few of us on this board who worked or still work at JSC. I used to come down to the NBL when the astronauts were practicing their EVAs. I worked in EVA SR & QA for SAIC at the time.
