There wasn't anybody to cut. We have some kids that went down with injuries early in camp, so they didn't play in the spring game. The defensive line looks to be the strength of the team so far this year. Remember the names Sean Fugate and Jeremiah Russell, they will be terrorizing quarterbacks come this fall. To me, it was a pleasant surprise seeing some production from our young running backs. They quietly have a chance to get alot of playing time this year. I was also pleasantly surprised by some of the receivers outside of Julian Stafford stepping up and making catches in the spring game. The question is can they take these positives, build on with the talent they have coming in and keep the positive momentum going.


P.S. There was a nice crowd out there also. I was happy to see us take more advantage of the spring game as a chance to promote the program and build momentum and fan excitement going into the summer and fall.

Winning until Bell got there and nobody worth a dayum wanted to play with him after year 1. Comegy can recruit but his practices, game planning and in game coaching is very lacking. Lead the nation in turnovers at Valley like we did and see how many games you win...Those game were won with talented players making up for the short comings of the coaching staff. Comegy is the defensive Coordinator and he loves man on 3 and forever...They also leave the middle wide open all day.....But since you guys don't want to discuss it good luck down there... Why have a thread with no discussion just pats on the back for nothing....

Then they accuse you of ruining threads for just giving your side of the discussion. We know Comegy better than anybody on this thread yet we're called smackers when we give a valid synopsis of the man's tenure while he was at JSU.
Fact of the matter is that Comegy should have at least four SWAC titles in his pocket over his 8 year tenure yet he only won one with ALL that talent.

Why be scared of a team with a coach we just gave away? Since you made the comment, please explain why JSU folks should be scared of a coach of a team who hasn't beaten JSU in nearly 20 years?

What the hell are you talking about? Who is giving pats on the back for nothing? I guess you skimmed over the part about being concerned about the offensive line, CONSISTENT quarterback play, and overall depth. Ya'll read what you wanna read. You guys also kill me with the "Comegy can't coach" crap. This is precisely why I asked what were ya'll doing with all the talent before he got there? I'll help you out, ya'll were LOSING, otherwise there wouldn't have been a need for you all to hire him. The way ya'll contradict yourselves is hilarious. Nobody said he was the world's greatest coach. *NEWSFLASH* ALL COACHES HAVE WEAKNESSES, AND TENDENCIES THAT OTHERS CAN PICK UP IF THEY WATCH ENOUGH GAME FILM* Karl Morgan was great at breaking down film and finding tendencies, his problem was however he didn't always have the talent on the field to consistently make plays in which they were put in position to do so.

If I say anything, I'm "hating". We might end up hating Jackson and his staff but it would never be known publically. Most people don't know how ready we were to get rid of Comegy.

But they 'bout to learn. :lol:
 
Also we all have some insight from the players themselves. Our Strenght coach was keeping the guys in tip top shape after Coach Black Showed up. Our linemen were in better shape because of the position coach. The DL players are now being taught proper technique in there on words, WR's are being taught right. Practices are better, structured...This is coming from the players....

WOW.. really? If you recall, Comegy gutted the program when he arrived and still brought in transfers the following year too so obvioulsy, he didn't think we had any talent. Was Hughes losing too? You don't have to fire a coach for losing. Why did we hire Bell? Was it because we were losing? Comegy and Hughes were both fired because they and their staffs were not good at the Xs and Os and they were getting out-coached.

Comegy wins becasue he keeps talent. PERIOD. He has NO CLUE what to do with it. You will soon hear the stories about his TU days. For example, there was no APR and spring was just for tryouts. Kids who were not even in school could come to TU and try out... and a lot of them would only enroll during football season. Even in his first year at JSU, he had unrolled transfers at spring practice. Comegy just wanted the biggest, strongest and fastest people on the field for him and he didn't care how they got there.

Now with APR in place, he had to learn some different things. Without APR, JSU would have been a monster under Comegy.

Again Minus Bell JSU has always been a winner. Comegy turned down a lot of talent too. He was lazy and left a lot of good players out there. Hey thanks for the wins but you asked and I told you. He is not a great X's and O's coach. His position coaches are lacking. DL coach and hayes SMH...But I'm done so yall can pipe dream all you want to ....

Even tho Comegy's time at JSU was up, I still have a lot of respect for him. But to say that we are going to be scared of Valley is a stretch. I think that EVERY JSU fan is now on board with the new regime and I think you will be hard pressed to find people who don't think we have a better staff. So for now, we have more talent than Valley and a better staff than Valley, so what do we have to be afraid of? And if they want their defense to be even remotely close to the Morgan years, Comegy is going to need two BOSS DTs. If they don't have good DTs, that defense will get ate up! We know! :lol:
