Most intimidating home crowd

I came across this thread from a pv band member that said he almost wet his pants because he was terrified of the crowd su had in 2003 when they played each other. Now that they're back in BR this year, he's wondering if Pv's band will even make the trip, so who has the most intimidating crowd and why?

Good question. Well most will probably say SU and I will agree. Actually we are not as bad as we used to be. But I can imagine coming to Mumford and you are the opposing school. It can be intimidating. But since I am a Jag.... it is not easy for me to see sometimes.

Now outside of SU. I think FAMU's crowd in Bragg Stadium aint no joke. I can remember being in the Jukebox in the 80s and marching into that stadium. Those folks were throwing stuff at us and saying all kinds of stuff. Their fans are on equal par with SU's as far as being intimidaters. That's why I hate to see that SU and FAMU do not play anymore. That rivalry was intense. Especially when played on each other's campus. I used to get hyped up for that game. The Fans really get on each other.

with pv,albany,a&m,jsu, and alcorn coming to mumford i can say this makes up for last seasons home schedule. No opponents brought their band and the crowds really werent into the game. After the half people usually left but this year with this schedule mumford wil be a difficult place to play.Based on last years crowd the hightlight where i saw the crowd get into the game is when ol' boy scored and stomped our logo but that was it.

I can remember back when I played in the band and the SU fans were hell. Those guys threw what ever they could get their hands on at us when we were marching back to our buses.

that was nothing compared to when they played oklahoma for the national championship....that was a non-stop 7 day event....they tore new orleans up....everywhere you went you saw purple and gold.

Man when they played Oklahoma for the National Title a coworker of mine was at the game and he said he thought the dome was going to explode with the noise and energy in that place.

They can get it going down in S. BR.

Any stadium that Southern plays in. I remember that J-State game in Jackson in 99. When Jackson State team came out to warm up there were 30,000 Jag fans seated in the stadium. The SU band had everybody in the stadium rocking. You should have saw the look on those players faces. They couldn't even warm up. :jump: :jump: That had to be the best BCF football game ever when talking about environment and crowd participation. Also the Alcorn game this season. We just took over the reservation.

It's amazing how even when SU plays an away game its as close as a home game for us as the home team, this is what sets our school apart from any other hbcu.

it's funny with lsu and su being in br....when i first enrolled at su i noticed the jaguar fans hate LSU...i mean with the same kind of passion we hate gswho.......

Yeah I can't stand them ba*t**ds. If you grew up in BR you wouldn't like them either. Some of thier fans are so so so so prejedice. When ever they think we can beat them in any sport they wont schedule us. They always down talking us and making little smart comments.

I went to LSU for a smidgeon and I can tell you that just like SU, half of the folks who support LSU aren't even grad's, never been enrolled, or even have family who ever enrolled. They are the typical "bubba's" who just want to be a part. What get's me is that the big political machine that is LA utilizes this to the utmost to support the State's Flagship University!

Now to flip the script, I HATE when a brotha/sista at ANY of the PWC's down our schools because they believe this hype! So I ask, "If I were in a major corporation and I wanted to find some of the best available talent, would I look at uhhh "LSU" or "SU", "Alabama" or "AAMU", "USM" or "Jackson St."? Then I bust the....HELLLLLLLLL NAWWWWWWWWW on 'em when they THINK they know the answer because I recruit!!! hehehehehehehe

Hell yeah....I was like dang!!!! That's the year we all had the "Battle of the Big Cats" T-Shirts. Helluva game.

I have never been, but would love to go to THE SWAMP and to CAMERON INDOOR...those have to be the two most intimidating places to play, IMO.

this is found on *************, under the band room forum, southern's 2005 football schedule, page 4.......
QUOTE(SUtrpt96 @ Mar-24-2005,11:34 AM)
If SU crowd as a whole is still on that 98 shat, that even worst...... Honestly, our crowd taunts every band, that's part of being in the SWAC.... But if it is to the level where you all are scared for your life that's something totally on a different level, and honestly I don't understand that.... If they have folks that is still holding on to that, they need to have police escort to carry their arses out of the stadium with that bull shat....

But I may be wrong, I don't think it is that serious with our crowd as a whole... I think the intellegent folk would nip some BS like that in the bud before it gets off the ground.

I feel that totally man. I understand taunts like "SU run this" or "Yall suck", but when I looked up and heard *****s toalkin bout "yall on our turf now" or "98 bout to repeat in this Mutha fukka", I was bout to piss in my uniform. We didnt have nobody from PV at the game but the team and the band.

It might be for some people, but Alabama's record in Tiger Stadium is something like 30-5 or 25-4. I am not sure of the exact numbers but I do know, that BAMA owns LSU in Tiger Stadium.
