Who would your picks be? Here are mine... No Order.

1. SU/JSU: Pure HATE...... There is NO Love... We are competitive in everything. ALL Sports, Fans, Bands, Dancers, Education, Choirs (Yes, CHOIRS), etc. The list goes on and on. SU handed JSU one of the most horrible Losses in Football History.... 98-0 (1929)
30-29 Series lead..... SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY!!!!

2. SU/FAMU: One of the Longest standing (We Need this Back) HBCU Football rivalries. Quite Heated from Football, Bands (Jukebox vs. 100), Fans..... Amazing Shootouts and Amazing Finishes....
26-35-1 Series Lead....... FAMU!!!!!

3. SU/GSU: Truly Family Tradition Thanksgiving Weekend Trip to New Orleans. Fans, Fanfare, Lights & Sounds, Infamous Battle of the Bands (20-30,000 fans), Highlighted by the Big Game!!! The Only HBCU game to be Showcased on National Television!!
31-30 Series Lead.......... SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY!!!!

4. Bama State/AAMU: Fanfare at its finest. Still holding on at the top of the list for Classic Games.
38-37-3 Series Lead.......... BAMA STATE!!!!

5. SU/Alcorn: Good Ole Country Fun...... Nothing Like the Jaguars/Braves on the Reservation....
31-32 Series Lead.......... ALCORN UNIVERSITY!!!

What would yours be...?

Gotta bring back the FAMU/SU series...the last few games between us have come down to the wire. That's a no-brainer for most FAMU fans as a heated rivalry.

FAMU vs Tennessee State

FAMU vs BCU...not as heated as the other two, but with BCU starting to beat us with a little more consistency, it's become a lot more interesting. For years, you could pencil this game in as an automatic victory for FAMU...not anymore

Outside of FAMU's rivalries, Southern vs Jackson State is my favorite. I mean they just hate each other

NCA&T vs. NCCU...that's another good rivalry and I expect it to grow to another level with NCCU being in Div. I and as both programs improve(I know they hate each other in basketball)

That SU/FAMU series was No Joke man......Rather in Baton Rouge, TallyHo, or Atlanta... Its is always a Classic Game!!!
I wish something could be done about this.

1. MVSU vs. JSU Throw out the record, these two teams just REALLY don't like each other. The whole Comegy deal just adds another layer of hate on this one.

2. MVSU vs. Alcorn This one is far more tame and respectful. We are in-state rivals, and always want to beat each other, but you won't see the vitriol and bad blood in this matchup.

Outside of these 2, we just really don't have that many other rivals. You would think there would be potential for one to flourish with UAPB, but so far it hasn't picked up steam.

I have always said I feel like AAMU/UAPB could grow into a good rivalry. We are two teams who like to pound each other in the running game. I think if we could have stayed in that STL game it would grown.

Man I remember going to Bragg stadium (or whatever that shat-hole is) Lol...man they hung 42 on SU and Halftime hadn't came LMAO...man them fans were on our ass...I think we dayum near got into a fight with them cornballs...it got heated..and SU came into that game with 1 lose I wanna say...man the 1st play of that game..Our Returner got lit up and the whole dayum stadium said "BOOM" LMAO...man I dayum near cried..we couldn't stop their 4 wide (at the time they were the only college team running that spread-hurry up) to save our life...it was so bad..smh..Pete huddled the team mid-way in the 2nd quarter...at that point, it was playing for pride Lol..shat didn't help..smh..it was ugly...smh..the worse I seen us getting beat..we got took to the shed that night..and I think it may have been some trash talking that week..I just knew, even tailgating it was serious...them cornballs didn't want us there and we didn't wanna be there..shat had got real..real quick...

I remember I think dude came from FSU and he played FS for us 1# was his number, dude had a mouth full of golds Lol.., and we had a short corner, I can't remember that dude name, but he was ok, but he was 'that' corner for us...we kept one..man they ate they asses up with that spread..LOL

I will take a crack at a top 20.. (u know I have to be extra.. )

1. Jackson State-Southern
2. Southern-Grambling
3. Alabama State-AAMU
4. Jackson State-Alcorn
5. Southern-FAMU
6. FAMU-BCU
7. Southern-Alcorn
8. FAMU-TNState
9. Jackson State-TNState
10. A&T-WSSU
11. A&T-NCCU
12. Jackson State-Valley
13. Jackson State-Grambling
14. Alabama State-Tuskegee
15. Alcorn-Grambling
16. TxSo-PV
17. Hampton-Norfolk State
18. SCState-A&T
19. Norfolk State-Virginia State
20. Hampton-Howard

To me, Grambling-Jackson State SHOULD be a top 5 rivalry but neither fan base has really developed that killer instinct for each other. I can see JSU-Alabama State going in a good direction. In fact, JSU-Alabama State might already be deserving of at least one of the bottom three slots.

Some people don't like Classics but I agree, in some instances, a rivalry can grow if you find a way to add to it's importance. UAPB really has no SWAC rivalries. Developing some type of history with AAMU and Valley would be wise.

"Somebody is gonna get embarrassed".. Internet Pete circa Nov 1999 :lmao:

For some reason, kicking the ass of Howard University in Greene Stadium feels good for some reason.

Real talk, I had a dream SU played Howard in Greene Stadium before 2020. It got ignorant and I there talking shit to the Howard folks with Jaguar Nation .

I noticed Howard put y'all for Homecoming this year. I will make that game.

Bruh

I think after that game, I read or later found out, Pete told the bus drivers to head back to B.R. that same night

LMAO...man our local WAFB and WBRZ ate that lost up

I think we were front page..like with the Big Picture LMAO..there was uproar about that, being on the front page of the Advocate, well, them cornballs made sure we were on the front page and had a big section LMAO..man I remember that whole week..pure hell

I just don't know why there isn't a rivalry between Valley/UAPB with our proximity to each other. I'll keep saying it. It need to be a classic (most likely in Memphis or maybe St. Louis) to spark it instead of us acting like the 2nd cousins at the family reunion that barely know each other

And that's what's wrong with my alma mater. We are too tame. We have to be ratchet to win the SWAC.

For a minute, it seemed as if AAMU and Tenn. State was building a decent rivalry. I think TSU admins figured they would create this classic after John Merritt and use AAMU as it's punching bag every year. Unfortunately the outcomes were not what TSU admins expected. I guess we are still the only school that has more wins against TSU in their own classic. Too bad...

I agree with you on the JSU-Bama State rivalry.

All time records in the John Merritt Classic

ALABAMA A&M (4-3)
ALABAMA STATE (0-2)
BETHUNE COOKMAN (0-1)
FLORIDA A&M (0-1)
PRAIRIE VIEW A&M (0-1)
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
(0-1)
SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY (0-2)

I agree with you on the JSU-Bama State rivalry.

Actually, I had FAMU-BCU listed twice when I was rearranging some things.. so I can give JSU-ASU the #20 spot. I just think that when looking at the other rivalries on the list, one thing they have is longevity. For us, our games have really only been relevant since 2000. However, the teams are certainly falling into "hate each other" category.. LOL
