Mega-Churches facing forclosure....

I am not a holy roller by any means, but I always find it funny how people can find reasons not to put money in the collection plate while they trick off funds elsewhere. I can understand that everyone may not agree with tithing for whatever reason. However, every church has a collection plate regardless of the denomination or the size of the sanctuary. If a person doesn't want to attend a "megachurch", then there are plenty of smaller churches out there that could use committed Christians.

I have seen and heard some things from some churches that would lead me not to attend those churches. However, that doesn't stop me from attending the church of my choice and supporting as needed (either financially or through service). I can't stand Fred Price and Creflo Dollar, but instead of sitting back and complaining about them I simply do not attend their churches or support their activities. What they are doing doesn't affect what I choose to do. Likewise, what's going on in some congregations shouldn't affect your own walk with God.

All in all, although a person may not wish to give their time, talent, and finances to a "megachurch", that shouldn't stop them from giving their time, talent, and finances somewhere.

I have a serious question for anyone. What is a "holy roller" ? I have heard and read that term used alot by people in a negative manner. Why would a Christian call another Christian a holy roller just because of an opinion that the person may be going "overboard" with something ? Why would a non-Christian call a Christian a holy roller just because the person may be going "overboard" with something? Both a very judgmental.

hey, we all have a viewpoint. I was raised in the church but will tell folks quick, I'm "allergic" to organized religion and go because they don't have a piano player. Other may not go from an experience in church or a dedicated member that practices "churchanity" instead of true christianity.

All churches aren't bad, but we you see a recurring theme in many of them, its easy to lump them together. I'm not interested in joining the argument, just hope we all find how to get what we need spiritually from whatever sources.

Peace out.

Oh, and yes, I do do something. I tithe, participate esp with the youth, do missionary with my home church as well as others that ask, etc.

CT, serious question 'cause I may be missing something...you play the piano in an organized religious church ? If I understood wrong pardon me.

Response to Recent Erroneous News Report
April 3, 2010—A recent news report giving the impression that Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church of Fort Washington, MD is facing potential foreclosure is unequivocally false. Ebenezer is not, nor has it ever been, in foreclosure. In fact, the church has never been late or missed a payment to its banking institution. Based on these facts, we are shocked and disappointed by the gross mischaracterization of Ebenezer in the media.

With a 150-year legacy of service, the Ebenezer Church family is aware of and has been directly involved in assisting members, other churches, and neighbors affected by the current economic landscape. As hundreds of churches across the nation have grappled with high interest loans and financial challenges, Ebenezer successfully restructured operations and mobilized members to manage the struggling economy and banking practices.

To further strengthen our financial position, a new lender arrangement was sought. While a number of banking institutions pursued the opportunity, Industrial Bank of Washington proved to be the right partnership because of a shared commitment of service. The newly established relationship with Industrial Bank of Washington will help to advance the support and services Ebenezer provides to our more than 10,000 members and hundreds in the surrounding community.
