Hell............ I wish we had the resources to leave this god-awful conference too. You ain't hurting nobody saying that.
As for SU, ya'll may as well be Naia because you ain't never been, never tried, and was always too scared to go. SU like bowling so much, MOVE UP AND PROVE how big of a draw you would be in a FBS bowl game. That is IF you can win 7 measley games. Win 7 and ya'll can take your 500,000 fans to the New Orleans Bowl against Tulane on December 21st.
Stop it Frat. SU aint never been scared to go. You need to quit that one right now. The Great Eddie Robinson himself who helped create the BC didn't want to forgo the BC timeline for the playoffs. Simple as that. SU was not even a contender for the playoffs until Pete came. And you can't say Pete was scared because he came from a school that played in playoff competition. It was purely MONEY driven. Nothing more and nothing less. SU and Gram were making so much damn money from the BC in the 90s it was crazy. But to sit here and say SU didn't contribute to anything because we were scared is not right bruh. Marino Casem was our AD in the mid to late 80s all the way through the 90s. Do you really think the Godfather was sced to play in the playoffs? Seriously? The BC is the reason why the SWAC office got greedy and started the SCG. They saw dollar signs.
Now if you want to say today's coaches are scared so be it. But you can't accuse SU of that. And with GSU having the most legendary coach in the SWAC still on the sidelines during the 80s and him being the most influential man in our conference and he said no to the playoffs, what did you think was going to happen? SU say nah Coach Rob we want to change the date. And the time that Gram went was the one year we moved the Classic back a week because of a Superdome conflict I believe. I think that was my Jr year. I know you and my fellow SU posters get into it. But don't make it personal towards the school. Because most definitely SU was WAYYYYYYYYYYY more arrogant then than now. So no way were we scared. Hell we had great schedules back then. We played schools like Del State when they had John Taylor. We played Nicholls every year and we played FAMU and TN State yearly. We didn't run from competition. That's all this 2000s and such scheduling when yours and my president agreed to the SCG and the all the different conference mandates and such. Hell I am sure some FCS schools were glad not to have to see SU and Pete in the early to mid ninety's and I do know Pete at that time wished he could take SU to playoffs. That was the old Pete. LOL.
