McNeese Cowgirls...we are gonna beat that arse!

1) RC Slocum has been to the Big 12 title game twice and won on one occassion to take the Big 12 championship. So his highest finish is first. Now that Spurrier's retired, the only active IA coach with more wins than Slocum since 1990 is Bowden.

Had to give him a plug. He played his college football at McNeese.

2) McNeese beat Sam Houston State 35-23 last season. The Cowboys also beat Northwestern State....something TCU couldn't do.

3) McNeese has been scheduling people like Youngstown State, Northern Iowa, and Western Kentucky (not the mention Miami, Texas A&M, and Nebraska). The fact that they haven't played Southern ain't because they're scared of 'em. They've been trying to schedule the Jaguars for years. As I understand it, there's an offer sitting over at Southern right now waiting to be signed. Kudos to your guys for stepping up to the plate.

4) During 1993-1999 Southern was dominating the SWAC, going 47-5 in league play. But in 12 games the Jaguars played against teams from the conference McNeese is in (Southland Football League) they only went one game over 0.500....7-5. The average result for those contests was Southern winning by 3. During the same period, McNeese went 10-2 against the same Southland teams with the average result being the Cowboys by 17. The two McNeese losses to those common opponents were by a 1 and 4 points while Southern's losses were by 14, 6, 17, 14, and 21.

Get the picture?

<<(Is that a little better, John). >>

I think so Doc. This is my first attempt at "smack" too.

Hunker down. I think we're dealing with experts. Best to learn by mixing it up with the pros.

All of this to say what? What the "L" does this have to do with Grambling?

Dude face it, bringing up the past is not going to help your cause come Aug 31st. Mack Niece State's football team is about as worthless as Worldcom stock. You clowns have no clue what is going to happen to you.

I am sure you have read about our fat azz QB, or about how we lost our starting runningback, or that we are returning only 3 offensive starters, but it doesn't change squat as far as this game is concern.

Man, 8/31 can't get here soon enough.

That's it...these clowns are now scrambling looking up isht and giving pep talks to each other. Why yall so uptight. Fellas, drink some prune juice and let the isht flow! Yall sked? You gotta do better than that. Is your team uptight too? They best step to the GMEN with better isht than your weak azz...RC Slocum is a good coach smack. Or, Southern didn't beat the Southland Conference by much. What the hell that got to do with the price of butter?

I don't know or give two buffalo chips what SU did against yall or anyone else. You better concentrate on that Black and Gold can of whup azz coming over to LCharles in Aug to punk your team, talk isht to your fans, make cash withdrawals from them casinos, and just generally party our azz off at your expense.

It's gonna be ugly!

HISTORY

Since the NCAA was originally organized to regulate big-time college football, it's ironic that it has no national championship for major college football teams. However, the NCAA does conduct post-season championship football tournaments for its smaller member schools.

Football playoffs began in 1964 when the NCAA established four regional championship games for what were then known as its "College Division" members. In 1969, the College Division was split into two groups, Division II and Division III, each with its own regional championship games.

The first national football championships took place in 1973, with the winners of the regional title games moving into the semi-finals in each division. Louisiana Tech won the first Division II championship and Wittenberg was the first Division III champion.

Another major realignment came in 1979, when the NCAA established a Division I-AA for schools that have strong over-all athletic programs but aren't among the major football powers. The Division I-AA football tournament was inauguarated that year. Like the other two, it begins with four regional championship games leading up to semi-finals and then to the national championship game.

The point, S.O.G., is putting things into perspective for you guys in terms of who McNeese has been playing against as compared to who Grambling has been playing against. Southern's utter dominance of the SWAC wasn't that long ago. That was a program that only lost 5 games in 54 tries over seven seasons in that league...won 90 percent of its games. Yet when they stepped out to play against the league McNeese is in, they barely managed better than breaking even at 7-5. And they only went 3-2 against Nicholls State....the weakest program in the Southland over the years.

When Pete Richardson went 11-1 his first year, the one loss was to a Nicholls State team that went winless in the Southland. If I remember correctly it wasn't exactly a squeaker either...Nicholls won by two touchdowns.

That Southern thing shows that running up a 10-1 record playing in the SWAC don't mean squat. A one point win over Portland State wasn't exactly a shot heard round the world either. The Tigers showed they could barely squeak by a pretty decent team in that one...but at this point they haven't done anything to prove they're capable of winning against one good enough to earn its way into post season...as McNeese ususally does.

Too bad they missed their shot at Florida A&M. Then maybe they could've shown something.

Course you're right about one thing...that's the past. Right now we don't know how good either McNeese OR Grambling is going to be this year. Grambling's got the questions you mentioned and McNeese is going to have to break in a new quarterback (starter yet to be determined) as well as a new defensive coordinator and overcome some heavy losses from its secondary.

Naw cousin, thats where you are wrong. We know how good Grambling will be this year. The questions I brought up were questions that others have of us, but we ain't worried.

You see we have been through all of this before, and the same questions kept coming up after we lost key players. When Lionel Hayes finished his senior year in 98', everyone said that we would have problems because we would have to find another quarterback to fill his shoes. Randy Hymes took over the next year and we won the SWAC title. After the 1999 season, our start WR Scotty Anderson left, and everyone just know that there was no way we could replace him. As far as people were concern, Scotty was our offense, and there was no way to replace him. We tried to tell folks that the G-Men would be even more dangerous without Scotty, but did they listen? Nooooooooooo!!! We won another SWAC title.

So you see, we ain't worried. You are! And its OK. If I were in your shoes, I would be worried too. We are the premier football program in the state of Louisiana. LSU and the N.O. Saints and got isht on us!

I'm ALWAYS worried about whether or not McNeese is going to have a playoff caliber team going into the season. You never know if new players are going to get the job done until they do it. But I'm NOT particularly worried about Grambling as an opponent. If McNeese is as good as they were 9 out of the past 11 years and play their game, they'll take care of the Tigers.

If they don't take care of the Tigers, I'll KNOW they'll be in trouble because they've got Youngstown State coming up next. And if they can't beat Grambling, they better not even show UP in Y Town.

Ask Nichols what happened every time they lined up against GSU...nevermind, I'll tell you. We kicked butt! I'm sure there have been years when Nichols was sorry, but still beat McNeese. As for missing out on FAMU, we beat them in 2000 when they went to the playoffs. Prior to playing us, they were ranked either #1 or #2 in the country.

Last year we didn't play them despite a 17 hr bus ride. The next week, we travelled across the country and got a 1pt win over Portland State. But what you failed to mention is that we drove 80 yards for the winning score. This was after the kickoff return for a touchdown had been "questionably" called back. There were so many phanthom calls to keep Portland State in that game, but like true GMEN we perservered!

That's the mindset of a champion. We are used to overcoming obstacle, proving naysayers wrong...how? By kicking azz and taking name. See you in Lake Charles, and I'll bring my writing tablet to make you sign your own name!

Please explain how...................

......How did your so-called "experienced" secondary get burned for 234 PASSING YARDS against Nicholls. Let's face it Cowgirls, if your secondary couldn't control a 'run-oriented' offense, how in the "L" are you going to stop the X-Y-Z pro style offense of the mighty ICON???????

.....The only game the two schools can compare each other to is the Nicholls game which was played on back-to-back Saturdays.

.....If Nicholls' QB had that much success with your secondary, ya''ll better get ready for the a** "beat-down"!!!!

.....Nicholls could only PASS for 96 yards on the Black & Gold, however they ran for 245.......which brings me to my next observation.......Mac Niece's running game which will be non-existent especially when you are not as balanced as the G-MEN.

.....Both games were played in Thibodaux and McLease, jumped out to a lead and had to hold on for the win. On the other hand, Grambling mounted a steady momentum and pounded Nicholls with those "BIG" DEFENSIVE LINEMEN in the 3rd & 4th quarters.

......Grambling won by eleven(11) and should have scored another TD.........CowGirls won by seven(7).........Same field, against the same team and the same "type" of Officials.

......Just thought I'd give you Cajun's a dose of reality;)

......By the way Grambling is 3-0 against Louisiana PWC's:)

I Been Watchin' This Thread...

..and I gots to say that they ain't no way Gambling can compete with McNeese. All your huffin' and puffin' is just worthless. Stop right now and bow down ya haid, Grumbler!
Dude's right about they schedule. They play teams SWAC treams would never dream of lining up against. You weak and you know it! They play Youngstown State this year, something the SWAC would never do. McNeese is an ICON of 1-AA football which is better than being the icon of BCF.

Word out.

MJ

So Youngstown State is yo daddy now, huh? Yall don't even need to play these people the way yall bowing down to these
folk. Looks like yall gonna open up the season 0-2... Oh what a shame!

Our schedule does not need defending. We play our conference games and we win them. We schedule outside of conference whoever is not afraid of getting the isht whipped out of them, but we use these as our money games. We have at least 3 slots available for non-conference games, we choose to play "traditional" rivals that benefit our coffers as well as theirs. These games are normally referred to as our "classics"
(Tennessee State in the Silver Dollar Classic, FAMU in the Circle City Classic, and Morris Brown in Atlanta). We're talking about attendance figures of 40k or more...The Youngstown States and Northern Iowa's of the world can do nothing to help draw attendance.

Dude, you gotta stop huffin' them Lysol cans

I went to TN State and saw lots of real 1-AA games in Ohio and Indiana and Illinois, as well as lots of SWAC games. We're talking men versus boys here. Them PWC's laugh at the SWAC. You play those teams you mentioned and your isht couldn't draw flies because they think you're D-II.
Save the real football for the north. The SWAC is a band conference and their football teams is a side show, like the freaky bearded woman and the half frog, half man dude.

Michael

P.S. And USM gonna beat JSUseless like a white stepchild.

Does Maine have a good program? DOOMSDAY heard they came down to Louisiana and beat the brakes off of McNeese.

RC Slocum send players!!!

Maybe the fact that you went to TnState shows your bias towards PWC's. All I know is that GSU has traditionally beaten many of these so-called PWC powers on the football field.

After we beat McNeese, don't come on here with excuses about McNeese being in a rebuilding mode!

Does Maine have a good program? DOOMSDAY heard they came down to Louisiana and beat the brakes off of McNeese.

Maine was a good football team last season. They were the A-10 co-champs. And our Sr Qb had another attack of color-blindness in that game throwing (without an pressure on him) to the wrong color jerseys.

Let me explain it to you people. We don't have a team, we have a program. A dayum good program. We have an offensive and defensive scheme that keeps us in position to win. We have a coaching staff that knows how to formulate and execute a game plan. We have the talented players who believe in the game plan and carry out what is needed to get the job done.
That's the way it is...that's the way it's always been...that's the way it will always be.

The tradition of excellence that is GSU was started under Coach Eddie Robinson. The man is a legend...the man is a football genius. The legacy of GSU is being continued under Doug Williams. I'm not comparing Doug to Coach Robinson...that is an unfair and unwarranted comparison. But Doug played for Coach Rob and knows what it takes to get the job done. Doug has been successful on every level of football. He was a leader during his playing days at GSU and during his successful NFL career. One of his greatest stengths is recognizing talent...in his players and in his coaching staff. That should be evident in his won-loss record (and championship seasons) since he became the head coach at GSU. We tried to warn yall when he first game on board...but yall laff'd. We tried to "tole" yall...now it's to late to beg forgiveness!

Dude,

What the hell are you talking about? Jackson St (SWAC) has beaten TNST (OVC) 17 out of the last 20 times. If any one is a side show it is the Ohio Valley

And Southern U. leads the series against SFL member NWST which is a PWC and a premier program in that conference.

"It is you and not the ice water."
