McNair: Health top priority, doesn't back off retirement talk
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee quarterback Steve McNair has
had time to think, and he isn't backing off his talk that
retirement might be a possibility after the season.
McNair says his health is his top priority, and he hasn't been
able to even play catch with his six-year-old son because of his
bruised chest this fall.
The quarterback says his talk following Sunday's loss to the
Houston Texans wasn't prompted by frustration over the loss or the
Titans' 4-and-7 record. McNair said again today that he will
evaluate his future after the season ends.
McNair is a competitor, but he says he can't compete when he's
standing on the sideline injured.
He did not practice today after hurting his bruised chest again
in last weekend's loss.
