Alaska Gov. Palin to be Named as McCain Running Mate

DAYTON, Ohio ? A senior campaign official in the John McCain campaign confirmed to FOX News on Friday that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee will name Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Palin emerged earlier in the day as the hot name in the VP sweepstakes after reports circulated that two short-listers ? Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty ? were out of the running.

Adding fuel to the Palin candidacy was a report that a charter aircraft from Anchorage owned by a McCain supporter had arrived at a small airport outside Dayton, Ohio, where McCain has scheduled a noon ET rally to announce his choice.

FOX News reports the jet flew to Flagstaff, Ariz., on Thursday before heading for and landing in Middletown, Ohio. The airport manager

McCain campaign staff prepping the Dayton event told FOX News that all indications are that Palin would be the VP choice.

Palin is considered a rising star in the Republican Party. She is the state?s first female governor, the mother of five ? and at 44 is its youngest chief executive.

Re: McCain pics Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as VP

What this is and what the republicans won't admit, nobody wants to be McCain running mate.

This woman was a just a mayor three years ago and has absolutly no experience or qualification to be President of the United states.

This does add a whole new twist to this year's election. But Biden should eat this woman's lunch during that VP debate.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think about how many times he has talked about Barack's inexperience, now you pick her??? I hope people can see the pandering through this. Let's think about this, you are 72 years old, what happens if something happens to you? She will become President with even less experience than you criticize Obama for. He just shot himself in the foot by trying to pander to women.

P.S. He can use her as a shield also because folks may be turned off if Biden or Obama is seen as beating up or attacking a woman. McCain you ain't slick nukka! YOU STILL GONE LOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a huge mistake for McCain. They're talking about scandals dealing with her already and nobody in America knows her. America has 2 months to get to know her.

They're already attacking her experience and her pending scandal back in Alaska

This was a chess move. He's going after the female democrats that are still pissed off. He'll get those votes because they can't be swayed anyway.

Now let's see how many of these mad asre white women and PUMA idiot's will go over to McCain because he picked a white woman to run.

After all.
We only voting for Obama because he black.
This should be good to watch.

Yeap, the Obama camp should release an attack ad immediately.

Those mofo's was not going to vote for Obama no matter what.
They will all of a sudden go along with a party they could not stand just 6 month's ago under the lie that Hillary was done wrong.

I'm still waiting on someone to explain to me how was Hillary done wrong.
She just ran a bad campaign and lost.

Seriously who would pick a former beauty queen to be Vice president? Can you imagine her trying to debate Joe Biden on foreign policy? LMAO!

No matter how this turns out there will be a first for America. A black President or a female Vice President.

The Obama camp should get in contact with Walt Monegan and Mike Wooten ASAP.

Alaska's governor being investigated, too

Sen. Ted Stevens isn't the only Alaska Republican who might be in hot water. The state's Legislative Council, a bipartisan panel made up of both state senators and state representatives, voted earlier this week to spend up to $100,000 investigating Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of the state's former public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan. The investigation will consider whether Palin sacked Monegan because he wouldn't fire Mike Wooten, a state trooper who's Palin's former brother-in-law, and whether Monegan was pressured to fire Wooten by Palin or members of her family or administration.

Wooten is currently going through a bitter divorce and custody battle with Palin's younger sister. Monegan says he did feel pressure to fire the trooper before he himself was fired on July 11. Palin replaced Monegan with Chuck Kopp, but Kopp resigned last week over revelations of a 2005 sexual harassment complaint against him.

All this comes at a bad time for Palin, especially because the investigation was brought to national attention on Thursday by the Wall Street Journal. She hasn't been discussed much as a possible running mate for John McCain recently, but her name has come up on numerous occasions, and she's been endorsed for the ticket by people like Nat Hentoff and the National Review's Kathryn Jean Lopez. Bill Kristol has also said he thinks she should be McCain's pick, and predicted she would end up on the ticket -- of course, given his record as a prognosticator, that could have been the real death blow to Palin's chances.
