Just drove by Legion Field and there must be 10,000 people tailgating already and today is just Thursday. What a sight to see.

why don't they come to the campuses like that? :emlaugh:

ask the two schools you worked for the same question....

I swear the MCC has to be the most HATED Classic in the SWAC...damn what happenned to "Good job, this is great for the conference".

and you won 1

not hating on the classic as I never been...my issue is how can neeeegros show up in the thousands for twice a year for games but we can't get get 70% of them back for a game on campus not named homecoming so we can increase revenue?

especially if your in a metro area?

the excuses about too much to do falls well short now.....

The MCC will have over 70K.....lets say 20K are AAMU and 20K are ASU fans and most live within driving distance.....what about the other 40K? What do they do every weekend? We know they are not at SEC games...

MD put this on the smack board so he wants people to hate...blame him

I just wanna know why do you guys hate the fact that our classic is great and growing? I mean schools that can't even when a championship hate on the MCC. Yet you get on here and say the SWAC is down, the SWAC is sorry, but when a a game gets national attention and folks are coming to see the SWAC perform you act like jealous slaves? Maybe it's your country mentality.

and you won 1

Answer the same questions about Texas SO and PV being right besides the 4th largest city in the US.... Huntsville is a metropolitan area... but the city is only 30% Black.

so people dont go to PV games because they are at high school games right?

Have I said the SWAC is down?.....Why am I jealous and why would I? As long as my school particpates in a classic with major exposure I'm satisfied.....Now if your 60K in attendance means each fans leaves with a dollar in their pocket upon exiting Graymont Avenue, then hell yes...I'm jealous

TSU and PV hasn't been winning....people get tired of not winning so they stop coming....that has changed at PV and it has got to the point where we'll be alright down the road...TSU won in 2000 and they came out of the woodworks so don't make it seem like we dissappear..

our problem is that in Houston, if the schools you recruit from for students play games the same night/day yours is...your splitting the pot...

JC...how do you change it....spend money to change it and ask the common fan why they stay home anyway?

Look at this board....some of the school fans have not grown in years so you only deal with the hardcore fan on here.....everyone damn near has net access now so it ain;t like they can't find the school they supposedly support

Nobody hates AAMU. We have Ten Schools and One Love. This is why we show the former big three so much love because they are included in the Ten Schools.

tbf,

The MCC is an event for the city. Really, it is larger than the two schools participating. GR always jokes about the people there not giving a damn about the schools playing. It might be smack but it's some small truth to that. Most black folks in B'ham are Alabama/ Auburn fans just like any other white person in AL. You can even look at some of the Bamas on this board and see that they are die hard UA or AU fans, so just imagine someone that doesn't have any ties to Bama State or AAMU. They are just there for the festivities. And that's not a bad thing. You gotta market your product the best you can to whatever target market will listen.

One of my neighbors is from B'ham and graduated from Alabama. He flew home for the MCC, but has no plans of going home for the Iron Bowl. I remember when Southern Miss, Ole Miss or MS State would have homecoming or a big game, you'd see all the Blacks students from those schools in Jackson at the JSU game.

You gotta take what you can get in this conference. It's not like we're putting solid football teams on the field, sooooo.........

Oh, and why do yall Bamas think folks hate the MCC so much? We really couldn't care less. Don't let the Smack threads fool you. Yall are just easy targets.

Now carry on.......

you REALLY dont know what the hell you are talking about.

Fab5, I bet you can replace either of those schools with Miles or Tuskegee and you wouldn't see too much of a drop-off.

Miles...no chance. TU, not gonna happen due to the tradition of TDC. But let's say they would move that game---70K? maybe over time.
Stillman?....:lmao::lmao::lmao:

The MCC is just a big family reunion. Is it not?

Labor Day Classic - Miles vs. Tuskegee does not compare to the Magic City Classic. However, you are right about the family reunion where former high school teammates and family members are on different sides for 4 hours. I saw it first hand also at the Bayou Classic and the Alabama vs. Auburn game. For some reason, it not the same during the JSU vs. Alcorn game. It amazes me that Alcorn has more fans at the game than JSU. With JSU's record being 2-5 record this year, Alcorn fans will continue to dominate.

PS: I am with the President of Alcorn.......Move the game to Alcorn

How many MCC's have you been to?

now Miles and Tuskegee attendance was better than JSU/SU but it aint nowhere on the level of MCC.
