Mayor Mitch Landrieu Trying to Stop Black Males from Killing One Another

I can honestly say that my hometown does have cops that can be considered dirty cops. While this is true I can also say that their is even a larger number of knuckleheads that live in the city and believe that crime is the answer. When you have parents that condone crime but can't even get involved in their kids education we have a problem. And the said thing is that they don't even care about getting help, they are only concerned about when is the next second line or concert coming to town.

You ain't never lied there.

IMHO, I think Mitch would be a better United States Senator than Sister Mary. At least, the people in Louisiana would know where Mitch stand on politics.

I am well aware of the mind set. It is deeply ingrained in many New Orleanians and Louisianians whether their formally educated or not. I know quite a few of high profile people that are in or have been in influential power position in NOLA that have straight up gangster mentalities with a criminal mind sets. Still one is more apt to get out of that mind frame through education. I liked Obama's address yesterday to N.O. by way of the Urban League (saw it on MSNBC).

And that is what I say because of the fact that a lot of these influences have to be coming from the "top" because of the fact so many of the inmates or people who turn to the wrong end of the law can probably tell you some stories of how certain people "in the know" have acted in a gangster like fashion based off of what they have seen or heard and it caused them to go in that direction. Then when you look at NOLA and the drug/police problem you can't help but see how the problem just won't die and that it really strains the community when so many police officers and the like are corrupt!

I totally agree with you.

You think Mitch could win? Mary barely beat a horrible opponent in 08. We were all scared.

89, that walking the line is the only reason Mary is still around in a red state. If she ever loses Jefferson Parish, she is done. She almost got taken out by the worst Senate candidate I have ever seen.

Mary started walking that line long before that election. Blacks in Louisiana saw her true colors after what she did to Cleo, which divided the Democratic Party in Louisiana. Most Blacks in Louisiana have lost trust in her. Her best option of maintaining the Black vote was through Black preachers and that is eventually becoming a non-issue. Louisiana as a whole is about 32% Black. There are plenty of rural majority Black parishes in Louisiana that are losing fate in her. Mary has even come out and publicly said that Piyush "Bobby" Jindal's school voucher program might not have been a bad ideal.

jsupop33,

I know Mary Landrieu is one of your favorite U.S. Senators, because you used to work on her campaign, but she gave a half ass endorsement to Barack Obama in the 2008 Presidential campaign.

Here's the first paragraph of her endorsement letter:

I remained neutral to this point in the nominating process out of deep respect for Senator Clinton and Senator Obama, as well as the other Democratic candidates with whom I serve in the Senate. Now voters in Louisiana and across the country have had the opportunity to be heard, and it is clear that Senator Obama has earned the necessary support to secure the Democratic nomination.

How in the hell can a person remain neutral and endorse someone at the same time? That sounds like some bat crap crazy mess.
