They also have an actual rule to stand for the National Anthem unlike the NFL but they dont get the backlash (yet) that the NFL gets. You cant stay in the locker room like the NFL allows

If he would have kept his mouth shut about it, no one would have even noticed. It went 12 games and no one notice it.
Now what he could possibly do is have it played while they are warming up real low on the speaker system and be in compliant with the rule.
