High school students from 17 schools across Alabama's Black Belt region competed for bragging rights and prizes during the Center for Leadership and Public Policy's annual High School Math and Computing Olympiad.

Some of Alabama’s brightest young minds and innovators of tomorrow took on mathematics and computing at Alabama State University’s 11th annual High School Math and Computing Olympiad. The competition, held April 6 in ASU’s Ralph Abernathy College of Education Building, welcomed more than 100 students from 17 high schools throughout Alabama’s Black Belt region.

“We had the best turn out,â€￾ said Brittany Jordan, Olympiad student coordinator. “This also was the first year we had a math competition, which was great and ended up with one winner.â€￾
