Lynching in Mississippi in 2004?

This really happened. Follow the newspaper link at the bottom.

A man named Roy Veal, just got lynched in Mississippi on Friday. Please circulate this article to your list, to people you know who have lists and the media. This needs national and international media coverage ASAP. Roy was a Vietnam vet who survived Vietnam only to come home and be lynched in Mississippi. He was found hanging from a Mississippi tree on Friday morning.

For more information people can call the Sheriff Pip Jackson, of the Wilkerson county Mississippi Sheriff's office. His number is: 601 888-3511. They are not giving up much information but should still be flooded with calls demanding a federal investigation.

you know,, first of all, if this is true, it's dispicable,, but at the same time, there was a police officer in San Fransisco who was basically executed by a black teenage gang member with an AK-47 in cold blood. why isn't that story a big deal??? :uhoh: further, the district attorney, this shmuckstress, in San Fransisco is refusing to make the teenager elligable for the death penalty should he be "found guilty".

That other story isn't a big deal (In the media)
because police are always targets. It's a
dangerous job. It's dayum sad though...but
NOTHING is as sad as a man being lynched.

Also, black man, you probably should have
more respect for due-process. Far to many
brothers havd been sent to jail for things
they had nothing to do with. Or did you
see this "gang member" execute the cop?

I asked Mississippians to explain simply because it happened there.
I'm very aware that lynching isn't relugated to places within Mississippi
state lines. My Great-Grandfather was lynched in Clinton, LA.
I'm touchy about that.

I wish we had the answer for why this happened. Not only that, I wish we could stop it. But as long as you have a generation that was taught this type of behavior from past generations, this kind of stupid mentality will never cease.

But in this day and age, what may appear to be one way may have actually been carried out by people that look a whole lot like you and I. People now just don't care about anyone or anything now. It's all about themselves and the LOVE of money.

Slt is right. 3 weeks ago, they arrested two people in OKLAHOMA for cutting up a man and his girlfriend in Hattisburg, and then took the parts to Oklahoma and stored them in a freezer. ALL OF THEM WERE WHITE. SATAN KNOW NO COLOR THESE DAY'S. :angry:

Remember how we(Blacks) were shocked when we found out the snipers in the D.C. slayings were Black!

It used to be a time when you didn't hear of Blacks carrying out crimes of that nature.

That's ALWAYS been the cover up for lynchings. Well, at least since slavery was abolished. There was a man in 2002 that was lynched in Mississippi. Suspects planted a "suicide letter" at the man's feet and officials in that town have been trying to treat it as such. It's just not logical to me...

And what gets me the most is that some of us don't realize that our struggle is FAR from over here. :smh:

A guy I went to high school with was found hanged in his jail cell in Woodville, Miss about 8-10 years ago. He had recently been release from Angola. He was arrested for domestic volence with his live in white girlfriend. Dude was as hard as anybody I've known, first jail time was in 8/9th grade. Just don't believe it was suicide.

With a name like Rogers Roy Veal, he sounds white. But that's exactly what I was aiming at. You can't tell these days and just because of the stigma on lynchings in the South, people automatically point fingers at Mississippi.

Now if it does turn out this man was white, will people(besides his family and friends) still be as interested in this case?

You don't have to tell me this. I'm from Alabama and no state gets it worse than Alabama anytime there is a situation where race is even remotely involved. Look at the situation at the university of Alabama with the coaching situation first not hiring Croom and then Croom's name being taken off a simple spring drill award (only to be replaced after Shula had to face the uproar). You'd think they had lynched a black on the campus for crying out loud. the south in general, Alabama and Mississippi specifically, always get the most attention anytime there is a race situation,, and yep, its because of what you said, i can't deny that. Mississippi has made some astonishing moves lately though, like with the hiring of Croom and the hiring of the black bball coach a few years ago at Ole Miss, and now there's a black coach at MS State ain't it? Meanwhile Alabama had a great opportunity to hire Croom and Auburn had a great opportunity to hire one of two black basketball candidates; both passed on the opportunity,, thus giving the state of Alabama critics more ammo to continue to blast the state as still "backwards" when it comes to race relations/hiring practices.

And the kicker is, we don't even know what color this man was. I have yet to find an article that has stated his race.
