Lupita, Wow!

He's not going to get it, Crit.

If somebody holds the opinion that only people of a certain hue are attractive, that suggests some deep-seated issues that you probably can't fix just by offering a different perspective. It's like trying to change a racist's mind.

I also don't get what is wrong with not being attracted to different skin hue's. I got joked on a lot about being dark skinned when I was growing up. I have heard a few sisters say they don't like dark skinned dudes, it really didn't bother me. I love being dark skinned now.

The problem is that there was nothing wrong with your skin color and you should have loved yourself all along.

Them not being able to recognize that and appreciate the differences in people is a character flaw on their part. They need to grow and intellectually mature.

Make sense?

True, there is nothing wrong with his skin color, but some folks are not attracted to it.

Hell I won't date a fat girl. I'm just not attractive to fat women. Does that mean some thing is wrong with me. I love and have a lot of fat female friends and family. Mofos can cook though. Just don't want too see any of them naked.

I can't do big women either. For me, it's a practical matter. I just can't handle all of that woman. I can't.

But, I would be wrong if I couldn't appreciate that there were some attractive and SEXY larger women. For me to deny that would be lying to myself ... which ... is a problem.

The truth is there is beauty in all shapes and forms.

To say that we don't understand how Lupita is beautiful because she is too dark is ignorant. Or white women aren't appealing because they have flat asses ... ignorant. On and on. It's just not true. At some point we have to evolve past that and learn to appreciate beauty in all its forms.

I never said that. I also said that I know some gorgeous dark skin women who can go with the best of them. Check out Donald Driver's wife. She is an ex-golden girl and drop dead gorgeous. I was on the yard at the same time as them. Hell Driver beat me to her.

I guess it is a good thing that our forefathers did not think like some of you guys, because if they did, most of us would not be here (if you get my drift).

*SIGH*
It's not about your preference or attraction. Damn. It's like me saying that a fair skinned black person can't be a TRUE black person. It's insulting.
It's about another black person saying that another black person is "too dark."

Lawd.....

And there's nothing wrong with that. That's your preference.
I prefer dark skinned men who are tall (6'1 and taller) with a SOLID weight (230 lbs and up). I'm not attracted to skinny men and typically not attracted to light skin men (though there are SOME exceptions) But that's my preference.

My whole thing isn't about preference. Ya'll have your right to be attracted to whom you wish.

I for one have never been stuck on complexion. I am stuck on beauty. If you ugly, you ugly and I don't do ugly. Now I don't do white women. Although there are some attractive white women, I just don't get into them, and for any one to say that some white women don't have pancake flat azzes they need glasses stronger then bi-focal. Some of them Becky's azzes need air tanks to lift them. Not all, but some. Yes, some black women need it to, but not as many. Now the younger white white gals getting azz from some where, but I will still pass on them. I will take sistas light skin, dark skin, brown skin, mixed, short, tall, thick, and all around.

Sorry...I guess I'm not seeing all of this beauty in her that the rest of the world is seeing. When I see her I see Omar Epps.....oh well....

We never have these issues when folks say they don't like light-skinned chicks (and it has been said on TSPN). Only when it's directed toward dark skinned.

I guess...

As long as Black people have fought against racism and discrimination, we - of all people - should know that skin color in no way determines the character or quality of a person. A certain skin color doesn't mean a person is more honest, hardworking, kind, compassionate, sexually compatible, or even more attractive. Skin color alone in no way determines who will or will not be a suitable mate for us. Yet, within the Black community, we have people perpetuating the same white supremacist ideas that have oppressed us for so long. Even using the same white supremacist terms such as "preference".

We should know better.

However, some of us have been thoroughly trained.

:shame:

Honestly, it is only when it comes to women from my personal perspective. You can say you don't like dark skinned brothers and it is cool. You say you don't like dark skinned sistaz and hell breaks loose.

I don't know what to do with you complex problem people. Never got it or in to it. I like all women, except white women. Just can't do Becky Beck.

I'm just saying that we should be more enlightened. If any group of people should recognize, respect and value people beyond their skin color, it should be us.

Why am I not surprised that you missed the connection between how we see ourselves and how we see others, and so many of the societal issues that we face? The link between our self-concept and the empowerment of a people? Or that you've chosen to trivialize any discussion other than "she too dark" or "he too light" as "drama"?

I'm against colorism in the Black community whether it targets lighter or darker people. We should know better. Especially among the so-called "educated" of us. The "talented tenth".

We gotta do better.

I didn't miss that connection. I'm just tired of how y'all flip flop on this page. If it's about light skinned the discussion is okay and it the comments keep coming. But the minute someone says something about dark-skinned folks...all the sensitivity shows up. We gotta start reading Black History monologues, etc.

That's all I'm saying. Y"all n.e.g.r.o.e.s sensitive.
