LSU vs. Southern On Hold For Now

According to WAFB News Channel, the baseball series between the two cross-town rivals is up in the air. The problem is the location of the game. LSU wants the game next season to be played in The New Alex Box Stadium while Southern wants the game at Lee Hines Field. It is to be noted that it is actually Southern's turn to host the game at Lee Hines Field. LSU claims the reason for wanting the game at LSU is because they already have two road games scheduled at Northwestern State and Centenary.

So do the National Champs think they are too good to play at Lee Hines Field now? SU played at LSU this past season, it is only fair for LSU to honor their part of the deal and play at SU. It would be a shame for this series to end due to this(Texas Terror please do not compare this to McNeese). I am glad that Southern(as of now) is not backing down to LSU. If memory serves correct, in past seasons LSU has had no problem playing at SU, why the sudden change?

C'mon guys... yall can puff your chest out and voice protest, but let's be honest, SU gets more out of this than does LSU. I'm sure they are offering to compensate SU to move the game... SU can take it or leave it.

Mo Tee Suh?

maybe lsu feels like next year is not the year to play SU on the road. jags did have those tigers pent up for 6 innings b/f they got sloppy.

I think that SU and LSU should play in every sport except football. Southern shouldn't move the game because it is our turn to host the game for OUR fans and community to enjoy. This is one regular season game that will be sold out for sure. Who knows, the next Rickie Weeks or Jared Mitchell could be growing up in the Scotlandville area, and this could be their chance to watch a high-quality team in person(Sorry for going After-school special on here).

Skip Bertman and Smoke Laval always made sure to make a return trip to Lee Hines(before the renovations) just out of respect. There were a few years where the two teams played a home-home series during the season. For some reason that quickly stopped. Paul Mineri should want to do the same thing. If they can travel to Northwestern State and Centenary, then they can make the long 10 min. journey to SU.

Where have I heard this before?

But for football...

:noidea: :lecture:

With football, it is more about economics. Moving a game to larger, neutral stadium that will accomodate more fans makes sense. If SU vs. PV will draw 35,000 fans why hold it a 10,000 seat high school stadium? PV still would be at home(closer to Houston than Southern) with the game at Reliant, and would make more money from the game.

In this case, SU would be giving up its home game to play at LSU. Yes, even though both schools are in Baton Rouge, the atmosphere at the two parks is distinctly different.

Maybe it's just for pub because there really isn't a valid reason that they shouldn't play there unless that dumbmass for an AD suggested it.

This is a totally different situation. LSU has never pulled this in baseball to my knowledge. I know they can't be sced of a road game with SU. Cador will make a phone call to Skip to settle it. LOL.

As for the football deal.
SU aint accomodating anybody with that dumb move to Jackson for football but one person......:shame: Hell it aint even SU anymore. It is the TC Jaguars. :upset:

But that didn't happen.......when it was at Reliant there were 18K there and 2 years prior there was 12K at the high school stadium but PV made more money in the high school stadium than at Reliant.

But it still goes back to

"It's not suppose to accommodate them it's our home game"

Heck if I was PV I would drag us (SU) down to Blackshear period. Never knew why yall haven't. I would rent some roll away stands and add them to the end zones and be done with it. LOL. You would really have home field then. No way the Juke comes to sit in those conditions either.

That HS stadium stuff messed up the tailgating/game atmosphere in my opinion. I think folks on here get caught up in the heat/loss of the game and attribute that to where the game was played.......I think that excuse is pitiful. LOL. I hope yall find a happy medium for 2010. Reliant aint the answer either. Too big and makes no sense to play there.

lmao@ jrock...but try to be objective whether we agree with it or not. LSU is simply playing Big Dog vs Lil Dog. I understand SU not wanting to make the change...but I understand LSU saying "What's in it for me?"

Smoke Laval didnt want to play SU. He took a beating by the LSU folks on sports talk radio for running from SU 03. SU 02 beat LSU, and SU 03 had them on the ropes before the game was rained out in the 5th inning @ Lee Hines. Instead of making up the rained out game with SU , Laval schedule D-2 Loyola  . LSU fans let him have it on the radio.

They are very scared to lose to SU. Any time they feel SU has a team to beat them, ie SU 03 baseball, SU basketball during the Avery, Bobby Phills era, they dont want to play SU. I remember the first time SU beat LSU in baseball, the game was televised on coxsports. They cut the broadcast off during the 9th inning. So many people complained, Cox gave a public apology and reaired the game the next day, even though it was during the day while folks were @ work.

Sound like some Razorback or Arkansas State Red Wolf sh!t they do up here!

Nice to see LSU playing games at Northwestern State and Centenary. They have done a great job the last few years visiting all the in-state Louisiana schools. Not sure if they have been to Nicholls or McNeese yet.

LSU is also doing their usual in-season home-and-home series with UNO and Tulane. Anyone know who they are playing at Zephyr next year in the Pontiff Classic? I think it was ULL last year.

Any clue if Southern is going to play a full baseball schedule next year? Any update on Baton Rouge possibly getting a minor league team?

All of our bills are paid....... and we still have all of our sports programs

So you say and we know how much that is worth. As for still having all your sports program, hell y'all just develop one the last five years so that shouldn't be to hard to keep up. especially only having to pay 1,000 a game for a high school stand.

I remember when SU women beat LSU women's basketball team at the PMAC when I was in elementary school. The next year, LSU women barely beat SU at the Mini-Dome. All of a sudden, the two teams didn't play again for quite a few years.

LSU did the same thing with Louisiana Tech. I don't recall seeing LSU women playing LA Tech too much when Leon Barmore had the Lady Techsters as a powerhouse. Now that La Tech is an average mid-major , LSU wants to start a yearly thing with them.
