Re: LSU and Alabama Better Try to Bust the Scoreboard on each other for To Match Hype

Again, in no other football scenario in the country on any level does divisional teams play TWICE. Since they do, then all teams in the SEC, no, just the SEC West deserve a DO-OVER against LSU, since LSU initial win was a FLUKE.

Since the most worthy opponent is a team that they have already beaten, there shouldn't even be a national championship game. LSU NATIONAL CHAMPS! It was settled Nov 5th.

Again............Why you trying so hard to push this farce MH.

THE BCS worked to perfection. The two highest ranked teams playing for the title. Without artificial rules about winning a conference.

Great job BCS!!!!!!!!

As the #1 ranked team, LSU's ONLY concern is to play the #2 ranked team, whoever that is.

It aint their fault Okie State and Stanford LOST.

again, great job BCS!!!!!!!

The BCS never gets it right.

- 12 times since the advent of the BCS a school has finished the regular unbeaten and not played for the national championship.

- On two occasions schools have not won their own conference championship and played for the national title.

- Onto the Harris Poll voters:
Three voters -- Derrick Mayes, Bob Wagner and George Wine -- said they thought Oklahoma State was the sixth best team in the country. Mayes -- a former Notre Dame player -- and Wagner -- former University of Hawaii coach -- each had the same top six -- 1) LSU, 2) Alabama, 3) Stanford, 4) Boise State, 5) Oregon and 6) Oklahoma State.

Wine's ballot was even more dumbfounding. The former Iowa sports information director had LSU, 'Bama, Stanford and Boise, but then had Houston, which was blown out at home in its conference championship game, fifth, one spot ahead of the Cowboys.

In all, sixteen voters had OSU fourth or lower on their ballot. That amounted to a loss of 26 possible points had those voters put Oklahoma State at least third in their poll. It doesn't sound like a lot until you do the math.

It did this time!

It is giving us a second game of the century this season.

The pretenders fell by the wayside. The BCS worked to perfection!!!!!

Why does there need to be a second game of the century between the same two teams? That would mean the first game of the century wasn't the game of the century.

Why does there need to be a second game of the century between the same two teams?
because the first one was so good and evenly matched.
The people deserve an encore. For all the marbles. The BCS is making it possible!

Great job BCS!!!!!

There sure is a lot of love Bama, I wonder why they didn't apply for admission.

Well, Boise State and TCU should do it again. Hey, how about Okie State and lowa State settle matters once and for all?

This time...it's personal!

Re: LSU and Alabama Better Try to Bust the Scoreboard on each other for To Match Hype

To be crowned national champion, you have to win the national championship game. You don't win the national championship by winning a regular season game.

You hit it on the head.

The first game was only for LSU to qualify to have the privilege to play Alabama in the Bama Championship Series. Since LSU qualified, they'll meet again in New Orleans. :emlaugh:

Re: LSU and Alabama Better Try to Bust the Scoreboard on each other for To Match Hype

They keep saying "Bama had their shot, now give OSU a shot". I'm thinking, shot at what? LSU? That's not how it works. Several teams had "their shot", it just so happens that Bama was the only team who had to beat LSU for their "shot". Ok. St.'s "shot" came against lowly arse Iowa State, and they blew it. Oregon State's "shot" came against undermanned USC, and they blew it. Stanford's "shot" came against Oregon State, and they blew it.

So Bama is not the only team that lost when it had it's "shot", its just the only team whose "shot" came against the #1 team in the country.

what PART of this Don't you understand.

AFTER the first Bama/LSU game, AFTER it, Oklahoma State lost.
AFTER the first Bama/LSU game, AFTER it, Stanford lost.

If either one of those teams had not lost, they would be playing in the national championship game. Not Bama. But since they lost, Bama is in the national championship game.

With these 2 break downs if they don't get it they're not try to. The BCS took the 1 loss team who's loss came against the most impressive opponent. If Iowa State or Oregon State is more impressive to you than LSU then...

:spin:.................But enough of this.

Discussing this mess with ya'll is about as useful as discussing how the SWAC can get all 10 teams in the conference on the same page as a conference. Whatever the heads throw towards ya'll, you will swallow. The BCS has been a major cluster fugg since it was created in 1999 under the excuse of "missed class time" instead of a simple playoff like every other organized sport in this country.

Re: LSU and Alabama Better Try to Bust the Scoreboard on each other for To Match Hype

LSU is the national champion dude, fact it. LSU has beaten Bama, all Bama is playing for is a SHARE of the crown. This is a useless game, no way in hell should this do-over even be considered. A crippled LSU won at Bama against a Bama that was hitting on all cylinders.

You can't share the BCS title. The AP can do whatever they want to, but an Alabama win makes them the BCS champs. The championship game is a winner take all affair. If LSU beats Florida in the regular season, but then loses to them in the SEC Championship Game, does that mean LSU gets to split the SEC title? No. Same thing goes for the BCS title game.

Tell that to Jim Delaney of the Big Ten, he is the one holding up the process. I recall Urban Meyer and Bernie Machen(Florida President) coming out to support a playoff or a plus 1 system.

Yes you can, only the BCS poll covers the coaches poll, the AP poll still counts as their vote MATTERS! All this if and if and if don't mean nothing. LSU is the national champs, no matter the outcome of the meaningless game.

Exactly, everybody wants it settled on the field, but that's not gonna happen anytime soon if ever. With the current system...they got it right, end of discussion.

Again, the winner of the game will be the BCS National Champions. LSU can win the AP title, but it has no affect on the BCS. Just ask LSU fans what they think of USC's AP title the year they won the BCS title in 2003.

Even you remember it was SPLIT! Thats my point!

Re: LSU and Alabama Better Try to Bust the Scoreboard on each other for To Match Hype

Yeah some AP voters are already saying that they will vote LSU #1 no matter the outcome. I think LSU will beat Bama impressively but if Bama were to squeak one out there will possibly be chaos.

What happens if Alabama dominates the game?
