Louisiana Top 10 Running Backs

I respect Scotlandville's talent level. I think it's as good as anyone's in Class 5A. But the talent level is not translating into playoff runs. I put more respect into consistent deep playoff runs, execution in the games and trips to the 'Dome.

Now when they damn near lost to Live Oak in the regular season ... that was a matter of playing down to the level of the opponent. On paper and eye test, Scotland should've blown them cats out of the water. The McKinley game is a rivalry game, and strange things happen in those games. But I thought Scotland was the better squad.

Now the things you get away with against Live Oak and McKinley will not get you past the Rummels of the world. Scotland had equal to more talent than Rummel, but Rummel out-executed Scotland and bounced them from the playoffs.

I have cousins that play for coach Randall. I always respected the way the team plays for Eric. I think the program is a year or two away from a Dome run. Especially how the playoffs are split now. The possibility North Baton Rouge kids going to Scotlandville due to school choice/get pilfered by Central and Zachary and private schools is also a factor.

Now Number1: outside of Acadiana and Barbe, maybe only Sulphur has been consistenly ranked/making deep playoff runs in the last 10 years ... In 5A, would you say 3-5A is better than 2-5A (West Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Ruston and others)?

I doubt that is happening since Central and Zachary are different school districts, and are very tight about investigating district jumpers.

I still say the Evangel-Kentwood 1A semifinal game under the water tower I covered was the best high school football game I've ever watched, if not the best.
But now Evangel is starting to feel the effects of the split from the Booty family (Calvary Baptist) and now everybody runs that spread offense that Evangel ran for years. Time has caught up to Evangel.

Yeah I noticed that Evangel has kind of fallen off a bit.

Central is cracking down on that now. But as we know, if they want it bad enough ... they'll try to make it happen.

Look at what happened to Livonia. They had a magical run to the State Title game wiped out due to an ineligible player. Central and Zachary ain't about to let that happen. lol

I don't think that District comes close to District 3-5A:

1. Acadiana
2. Barbe
3 Carencro
4 Comeaux
5 Houston, Sam
6 Lafayette
7 New Iberia
8 Sulphur

Interesting......I know New Iberia has beat Westgate the last 2 years. And, Barbe and Acadiana speaks for itself. The other 5 looked less than impressive this year. I know at one time the 8 teams listed were better than those 4A programs top to bottom and played a higher caliber of opponents. I know time changes so I haven't been around enough the last several years to definitively say that it is a radical difference nowadays.

The majority of Livonia's top players come from New Roads, and thanks to school choice ... those kids went from Pointe Coupee Central to Livonia. Now PCC is getting closed down and all those New Roads boys will be going to Livonia. Trust me when I say Livonia had little pedigree before the whole school choice thing.

Speaking of Livonia and Zachary, wasn't it a coincidence Livonia's football coach left for Zachary just weeks after the 3A championship game???? Methinks he knew what was coming.

Livonia will be very very strong now that they are combining with PCC.

Oh yeah, he probably did. But also consider that his salary going from Livonia to Zachary probably was at least a $15,000 increase(even more if he was named athletic director). What was more surprising was how Zachary's Coach left to go coach at Dunham, Dunham's coach left to go coach at Livonia, and Livonia's coach left to go coach at Zachary. lol

Zachary coach was going to get fired lol. He was horrible.

Especially at the level he was salary-wise. Dude was taking home no less than $75,000 since he was the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach.

Zachary has college level facilities. They have been under achieving for quite some time. I watched them cheat 2A East Feliciana out of three games. No way a 2A school with players playing both ways suppose to man handle a 5A school like that  .
