I'm not going to jump on the LJ bandwagon just yet, but I have to say his first game as a pro was very impressive. The kid didn't look nervous at all last night, and actually looked like a seasoned vet.
The thing I was impressed by the most, was his leadership out there. If a player messed up, or was out of position on defense he let them know about it, and he also picked his teammates up after bad plays.
I was also impressed with Melo last night (thank you NBA Pass), though his stats didn't match up to LJ's, he played a pretty solid game overall, and other than the some early foul trouble, I think he handled himself well, and his team won.
I don't want to call them the second coming, or Magic, and Bird, but if last night was any indication of things to come, I think the NBA has found two good additions to turn their product around.

First time I'd ever seen him play and I thought he was being over-hyped but he REALLY held his own last night.
Big kid. Bball smart. Sounds smart (during interviews). Man, he's alright w/ me! :tup: Melo too is "the man" as well.
Those 2 are beyond their years. I still think Melo will win rookie of the year.

LJ is on another level than the rest of the pros. I thought the kid was just good as L in high school. I thought he made the game look slow because he was 10 steps above the rest in high school, but its the same in the pros. To dish out 9 assist and pour in 25 points in your first professional basketball game str* out of high school, that's incredible. He did this against one of the top 3 teams in the league.
He's for real. When he got that defensive steal and C. Bozer passed him the ball and he had a WIDE open dunk and passed it up for an easy assist to Ricky, I said then he is something special. Not even Kobe would have given up a highlight dunk for an assist in his first NBA game.

Lebron was VERY impressive....The kid is indeed THE TRUTH.
I think he's the reason Kobe is having hissy fits. Making the
annoucenment that he may possibly leave LA the same day
as the kids BIG Announcement...but karma is killing him now.
As for Carmelo I didn't get to see him play but judging from
who's on either team...I think Lebron will always have the
better stats...but Melo's team may get to the playoffs first.

He'll never get the respect he deserves as a
player (in hindsight) with MJ's number.

I saw both games last night and I have to say that I was impressed with LJ's performance for a first night...
That being said, It's going totake a minute to see where his defensive skills are at in comparison to the rest of his game. How he fares when he starts facing the likes of TMAC or AI on back to back nights will really tell folks how far along he is in his development as a player, particularly if he's going to be playing the point. The potential is definitely there; I still think he would've been alot better off if he would've put in at least one year on the college scene.
Mello answered alot of the same questions last night, albeit in a more reduced roll with the Nuggets. I think Mello brings alot of the same intangibles to the pros as he did to Syracuse. The guy can pretty much score at will from 18 feet on in if he has to.

Immensely....Carmelo had the same oppurtunity to go pro when he got out of Oak Hill...His game was pro calibre before he hit Syracuse. He's arguably better now than when he won the NCAA championship for them....
you tell me if ole' dude wouldn't have learned anything by working with a Rick Pitino or a Coach K. for a season or two... :shame:

Like i said earlier, he had a great game last night...The last time I checked, one game didn't make a season, or an NBA career for that matter...Regardless if it was Coach K, Gary Williams, Rick Pitino, or anybody else, the experience of playing college ball would've made him even more polished than he is now as a high schooler.
it ain't about the coach....You can jump on the "LeBron for president bandwagon" if you want to.... I'll reserve my assessment of him until a little later on in the season.
I'll tell you this; I Think Carmelo will have more of an immediate impact on his teams success than LeBron will at this stage of their careers. the dude knows how to win...
