LA High School Playoffs, Peabody Doing it again!!!!

I thought you knew. We had a huge tailgate(pre and post-game) and everything. As always, the dome was ours. We were in there for 4pm and our game wasn't until 8pm. When WM got there, they were scarce on good seating.

Y'all should roll up for the victory parade/celebration next week. I'll keep you posted on the specifics.

Yeah...let me know.

could peabody beaten zwolle this year?

or was christian life the best overall?

In 2004, University High people tried to make the same argument. Peabody was undefeated with a win over University High and was ranked No. 5 in the Nation. The only thing University High had at that time was Glenn "Big Baby" Davis. Peabody's 2004 team was made up of 6 or 7 individuals that probably could have beaten a few teams with blindfolders on. These young men knew everything they needed to know about each other concerning basketball. Coach Smith probably could have turned his back on the 2004 team and still gone undefeated. But the 1979 team were still the most talented team Peabody ever had. The 1979 team was like a well oil machine with pure raw talent.

Well in 1979 I was a toddler, but as of late I have heard great things about that team. That was way back in Lewis' day.

The 2004 team was outstanding, even better than the 1991 championship team. This year's team actually did not "do what they do" for the semis and the final. They just were not as cohesive as they were in earlier games this season. Look at Rudy's numbers. We won though. The haters can keep talking out the side of their neck. :whine: No one else compares because of our depth. We can always run a team down and still be fresh. As always, our discipline is remarkable. We'll be back next year with King and Horn leading the won. The championship will repeat.

For now, we're preparing for the parade/carnival/championship on the 31st. It's gonna be big. :jump:

...And I will be there. Then off to Shreveport.

 They printed out your "You know you're from Alexandria & Peabody" and had it circulating at the tailgate last Saturday. We love the memories.

Cool. Of course, the Mrs. had to break it down to me on how she used to love those Nehi soft drinks. I'm still a little upset that I didn't get a Friday paper or a Saturday paper that day. And then ya'll tailgated too? Man I hated that we missed it. I'm sure ya'll had a blast!

FUGGIN WELL RIGHT!!!!!!!! 2007 DISTRICT & STATE CHAMPS!!!!!!!

I hear ya! I went to school with a very deep rich history in Louisiana State High School sports. We've had our share of State Championships.

Mack ain't the one you need to be damning.

It's a got damn shame to quit on your teammates during the final game of your career, which also happens to be for the state championship.

From an outsider looking in. What I saw at the game was a combination of both, bad coaching and a star player being disrespectful. I wonder if Tim Floyd saw the same thing and what he'll do when faced with this situation. As for Coach Guillory, you can't rely on your offensive boards when you play a team like Peabody. W-M point guard kept trying to force his shot over a defender who was just as quick as him. W-M should have immediately tried to get their big men into the game by setting up plays for them. The dribble shoot from their point guard wasn't getting the job done. This might have worked on other teams, but Peabody had way too much size to throw up a prayer. The only bright spot was the kid who hit several three point shots just before the half.

Hey Lewis, I didn't know if you read this in the towntalk:

Ex-Peabody, NSU star dies of kidney failure

Peabody did beat Zwolle this year. It was in the Hall of Fame game at Peabody, but those games don't count in the official lhsaa standings. It wasn't even close. Score was 87-41.

Peabody and Christain Life played in a tournament in Nov. and Christian Life won 60-52. That was before Peabody move a few players to different positions.

At the end of it all, the most independent rating of teams in the state is Maxpreps, and they use a formula of who you played, who you beat, and who you lost to. Here are the final rankings for the state (irregardless of classification)

Notice that the top 3 teams and 4 of the top 8 are 4a teams. And Peabody beat all 3 of the others.

Lewis, I wouldnt go by Maxpreps ratings over a local newspapers ratings... For one.. Maxpreps doesnt have the scores of ALOT of games... they depend on people like me and you to report scores... I was the person who sent in the scores from my high schools games... if I wasnt there there wasnt a score printed for it.... as I look at alot of schools pages, there are alot of missing scores. Not saying their rankings are wrong, but I would go by what a local paper posted over what Maxpreps posted.
