Just go to FCS Playoffs format FBS

If... check that... WHEN they expand to 8 teams, this makes it easier for a Western Michigan who has a great season (UNDEFEATED with a good shot at 13-0) to get in with an at-large. The highest ranked P5 school now gets in one of the Group of 6 bowl games so expanding it to 8 appeases the G5 schools for a while knowing they have a bid. I would LOVE to see Navy get a shot at Alabama (because Navy still could be the highest ranked G5 school) in a #1 versus #8 match up because that option would give Bama fits.

The other P5 schools would probably be Michigan and Ohio State this year so an 8 team playoff this year would kind of tidy up this playoff picture instead of dissing Penn State (who beat OSU) in the "but what if they played Ohio State now" scenario.

(Assuming champs using last week's ranking)

1. Alabama vs (8) Navy/Western Michigan (stud receiver)/SDSU
2. Penn State/Wisconsin vs (7) Michigan
3. Clemson vs (6) Oklahoma/Oklahoma State
4. Washington vs (5) Ohio State

The top 4 seeds host games (to reward conference champs).
Why on earth do you feel the Navy option would give Alabama of all schools fits?

if Ohio State makes the playoffs they will have no choice but to expand to 8

Yup. That's going to blow the whole rhetoric of being the best in your conference up.

But still, the only way to satisfy an at large at Ohio State and get conference champions in is a 16-team field with all 10 FBS champions and 6 at large spots.

Kenn said it best all P5 conference champions and 3 G5

Again, each of the P5 conferences should only be allowed to get one school in. There would be no need to include Ohio State in your equation. The remaining 3 spots would be allocated for the remaining G5 conferences.

You are still neglecting 2 G5 conference champs plus there is no way the P5 schools would have App State/Troy over Ohio State. Not happening. They are trying to screw two Big Ten teams and a whole P5 conference (Big 12) to get Ohio State in now so no way Troy would get in using a 8 team playoff format. 16 teams yes. 8 teams. No way. It's not right but it is what it is

they could if they do it the right way but it's tooooooo obvious they want a Alabama vs Ohio State Championship

Then what the hell is the purpose of having conference championships?

Those games only exist because of the additional money they make for their conference. Nothing different than when they have these basketball tournaments to determine their conference champions.

16 is too many as you would want these players to be playing too many games. 13 with a conference championship than possibly 4 more to reach the title game. You got to include the bowl games in this as that is what is tied to all these conferences.

A 16-team playoff is too many. An 8-team playoff is a right number, but the CFP doesn't owe it to schools to be fair of or, inclusive to, all conferences, though. The best teams should be in the playoffs. Under the current system, if the season ended today, it would be hard to argue with Bama, Ohio State, Clemson, Wisconsin/Penn State/Washington getting in.

Didn't say they would beat them ol great football mind but when (at the time) FCS Georgia Southern played them (WITH Kirby Smart) they got over 300 yards against that stud defense. Navy would make it interesting for a while with those smaller lineman and those cut blocks

They scored 2TD on Bama. 3rd was a KO return. Yeah they ran for yards but that is what they do. Game with Navy wouldn't be any closer.

FCS, D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO play 3-4 games in the playoffs and no one feels sorry for them.

I didn't say it was perfect. With only 8 spots available, somebody is going to get left out.

If for the very reason you mentioned that the NCAA made the exception for the Big 12 to have a conference championship game without have 12 teams (which is usually required). The possibility of TCU and Baylor both getting spots in the final four would mean was too much for the other P5 conferences to risk.

Of course its for the money, man. But even with the NCAA basketball tournament you never heard of a conference champion NOT being able to compete for a national championship. Because there are 64 team (or should I say 68) conferences have the luxury of getting their conference champion and a few others. That's not possible with football.

It's going to be a tricky deal when some school gets left out of the CFP and gets all lawyery and stuff.

With the CFP, the committee can do what it wants, though. There is no guideline or standard by which schools are included in the playoff. ...

It's going to be interesting to see when they get to that bridge though

You can play 2-3 basketball games in a week. If you could do that in football then the comparison would be more plausible.

The CFP will expand for the same reason the BCS no longer exists: The games will generate more revenue. One school being excluded or included under the current system will not factor into it.

That's why we have a playoffs coaches went crazy Oklahoma State staff the most because LSU played Bama again even though they didn't even play in the conference championship
OK State was #3 behind Bama it'll expand because Ohio State will be in if not then this will be the conversation again next year

You forget that ESPN paid 7.3 billion for CFP broadcasting rights.

This has nothing to do with individual team. Seem to have something against Ohio State, though the Buckeyes and Bama have been the best teams in college football all year.

I can't go with the give every conference champ or top 3 G5 a bid thing. If you're gonna go to 8, go with the top 8... period. I mean it's cool that WMU is going to win the MAC or whatever, but they currently have the 83rd toughest schedule in the country. They haven't played a single ranked team, and out of 12 teams they've played 3 with a winning record. There's no way they're more deserving to get in an 8 team playoff over Michigan, Penn State, Colorado, Oklahoma or Oklahoma State....and that is why even though they're likely to win the MAC they're still #16.

And honestly, if you want to compare it to the FCS, if there were only 8 spots, do you think teams from the MEAC, Pioneer or Patriot league would ever get in without some miracle top 8 season?

Huh I really don't have anything against just saying facts if Ohio gets in we'll have a 8 team by 2020 and dude it's a money thing Ohio State vs Alabama National championship who wouldn't watch it............it's not computers anymore MAN PICKED
