I respect everyone's thought and that's everyone's right. What I'm saying, as a graduate of PVAMU who represents my angle, I wouldn't want any <b>adversary's name/number</b> on anything that is "PV officiando." Man that's borderline bigotry or blasphemy. In fact, it's ludicrous and almost laughable. lol I hate the "look what dey did and didn't do" thing but... did UofMich wear a Woody Hayes "patch?" Did the entire Big10 do that? :emlaugh: More recent, did OhSt wear a Schembechler "patch?" :emlaugh: Emotionalism combats intelligence oft times.

I think it's safe to assume that even amongst us PVers, it's quite obvious we're not a monolithic group and I cannot speak for anyone other than the ones who are in agreeance w/ my thought process (mainly the overly proud eldering grads from what I've ascertained :swink: ). I know there are some purple/golders who would want me not to rock the boat, so to speak, while performing the kum-bah-yah thing whilst lol holding hands w/ everyone else. That's never been my makeup (individualism enhanced).

Hey, like I said.....I can respect that. Just didn't agree is all.

I am sure some MLB fans that are not Dodger fans hate the fact that Jackie Robinson's number is retired throughout the league.

Well... lol I've read some of those comments coming from some folx (esp those Yank fans, they're a special bunch lol). MLB? College football? Pro vs amateur... I don't think that's a good comparison.

Ultimately, it's the SWAC Council's or SWAC office's call and whatever they agree to is what will be done. Maybe none of us here will effect our respective prezy's decision.... maybe one of us here <b>could</b> w/ the simple call on the celly to bitch and moan about it while providing concrete reasonings as to why it should or shouldn't occur. Here's what Head Coach Bobby Bowden of West Virginia University did as a result of the Marshall University Thundering Herd plane crash that killed many players, coaches, alumni...

Memorial services were held on college football fields across the nation a week after the crash and The Herald-Dispatch reported on Nov. 25, 1970, that West Virginia University's football team would paint green crosses on their helmets in honor of Marshall's team.

"It may seem an insignificant gesture, but we feel we must honor them somehow," former WVU coach Bobby Bowden said at the time. "There's nothing you can do to bring them back or ease the sorrow. ... This accident has affected Marshall, Huntington, our players, the whole state."

Hell to be honest with you P......I don't think the SWAC is even going to do that much. Maybe a moment of silence before each of the first games or maybe they change the SWAC Offensive Player of Year award to the McNair award or something. But I doubt they ask for all the teams/schools to do something.

If only SU and Gram wore Eddie Rob stickers on helmets and the rest didn't....you know what the deal is going to be. Now I am assuming that only SU and Gram honored Rob like that. Can't remember was it a SWAC mandate. Of course the SCG trophy is now the Eddie Rob trophy and the NCAA has that game and coaches award.

Thx for pointing that out C-LeB. I'm overly aware of what Mr Bowden/WVU did w/ the cross across the helmet during his tenure in honor of the Thundering Herds' losses of life. Did the SWAC do likewise when the Thundering Herd lost those coaches, student-athletes, univ reps, and local media reps?

Didn't Rob do more to help SU's cause rather than others in the SWAC though? I understand why SU would pay homage.

We couldn't have done that because we owed nada. We <b>created</b> and were very well <b>established</b> waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before Rob burst onto the scene and put their marketing machine in overdrive. :read:
