JULY 1st in Mississippi: No concealed weapons permit, no problem

I know in Georgia you have always been able to carry it in your car as long as it is visible and doesn't have one in the chamber. If one is in the chamber you are in trouble because it is considered intent.

The Castle doctrine took care of that here because it states that your car is an extension of your home. You can have a gun in your car in Mississippi if it is clearly visible and not chambered.

Hate to say it but this will get out of hand and something will go down. There are a lot of sick people out here.

Must admit.

When these laws first started being passed around here, I thought it was going to be the wild, wild, west. But, as it turns out, there has been no change as for law abiding people popping caps at each other. They was already riding around with their hunting rifles and shotguns in their trucks and cars anyway.

All this is going to do is make people have to get used to people other than the police with a pistol visible on their person. A lot of people was carrying them anyway wether they had a permit or not. Only thing about that is if the police found a gun while searching / patting down your body and you didn't have a carry permit, yo azz was grass.........Raymond bound.

It has always been on the books that it is legal to OC in Alabama, but a lot of sheriffs didn't agree with the law, saying that it was too vague. So last month an omnibus gun bill was passed and one of the things is "carrying a pistol, in a holster in plain view is not illegal nor does it constitute disorderly conduct. "

These white folks down here are happier than a fly on crap. They have a facebook page call Alabama Open Carry and other than the bill that passed, all they talk about is places they can open carry, like Walmart, Dicks, Sporting Goods, various restaurants, etc, etc.

I just can't dig the open carry thing, it screams attention whoring to me. I've had me ccw since I was 21 and you'd never know I even have one on me unless I had to pull it. And as a carrier it's even annoying to me to see people walking around in stores and chit with guns tucked in their wasteband or on their shoulder.

I thought it was just me.

Actually open carry has always been legal in most of the country, even before CCW laws were passed. Like you say, cops didnt like it and would mess would people. You wear it on one side and they would claim their view was obstructed from the other side and give you a case. So when folks started passing CCW laws, it automatically opened it back up for open carry as that threw the obstructed view thing out the window.

Shid, back in the day, my old man and my uncles used to have rifles and shotguns in the trucks on those racks in the back window when we were growing up. LOL. Hell I had a rifle at 10.

I thought it was just me.

I saw some dummy doing it in a mall and just shook my head. Not to mention it makes people uncomfortable as hell to see it. Would never open carry even if I didn't live in a state with ccw acceptance.

im like you on carrying a gun. i dont even want people to know i got one one. mine stay in the car actually. all i want to do is get from point a to b and back to a and have it when i get out of the car just in case. if i feel there is a need to carry a gun into a place or event, i dont go.
