A Jackson State University department chair was found dead in his Madison home around midday Wednesday, police said.

Captain Kevin Newman said Dr. Garrick Shelton, chair of Developmental Enhancement Studies at Jackson State University. was found at his home on Harris Lane.

Seems he also attended Grambling.

Shelton was a Jackson native, graduating from Murrah High School in 1994. He attended Grambling University and JSU for undergrad, and got his PhD in 2005. He started as the chair of Developmental Enhancement Studies in 2008.

He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.

Damn. If this guy would have been locked up, the murder wouldn't have happened.

Yep.. I was carjacked in Maryland ... Landover Hills I believe ... and when they caught that dude, he SAT in jail until his trial. We have to stop letting these people out on the street as if they are going to be model citizens as they await trial.

Have the police given a motive yet? He was found dead in his home and there was a lot of blood everywhere. So did he know the guy charged with murder?

Yep. Same thing we discussed in the B'ham Rap Video thread. "What you did" is not as important as "Where you did it".

This man was killed in his own home, the very least place where he thought any trouble could occur. So very sad. May God bless his family and friends, and God His justice reign and bring the family closure.

They knew each other according to the Police. My Mom's theory is that they were lovers and something happened between them that lead to the murder. Who knows.
