I feel that it will come down to Comegy and Cole. J-State is in a win, win situation. The rest of the SWAC better "Get Ready", because J-State is on their way back..... Comegy isn't a joke.... Cole-Blooded football again? ;)

Ummm in my own defense - thank you TR - I didnt know that putting the actual NCAA report was a stab in the back since it is public knowledge. And as MH said, I personally think he is an "ok" coach - I have even said he couldnt coach - if he gets the job and I do wish him good luck on that (I talked with him on Monday when as a matter of fact) I think he will bring a ton of excitment with him back to the conference. But his actual game and sideline coaching will leave a lot to be desired. He will recruit well, he will market himself - and in marketing himself the school will follow - "Cole-Blooded" Football @ print your school here, and he will have a cult of followers, now if TP and GR are in that cult - good lawd :emlaugh:

Comegy is the clear choice. L.C. is a distant 2nd, while McKenzie shouldn't even be in the conversation. Let's just call it "Affirmative Action".

I guess they really want to win. But if they hire Cole, they are crazy if they don't have a few folks watching everything like hawks. If you let a coach do anything you will get what you deserve.

Dude, if truth was told I really wanted Mike White or John Shannon, but since it's down to these 3. I'll rather go with LC. Hell, I believe my first 2 would run LC out of the football game completely. And if you want to see me really glow, tell me that Mike White's name is one of the 3 names and watch me shine like a new found penny.

I knew who I wanted before the search started and Cole was not even on my list. Heck, he wasnt even on the short list. I wanted Shannon or Mike White from Albany St. Maybe you need to go back and re-read some of my earlier posts when they first started talking about the search.

my impressions of all 3:


comegy. I wouldn't hire him, and I'm not convienced he'd leave tuskegee. he just has no scruples and it's only a matter of time b/f he leaves you in a lurch or sticks you up for more cash. he hired assistants at norfolk, they moved there and then he just left. the school took care of them b/c comegy didn't.

l. c. cole. he didn't cheat at bama state. it's easy to believe that he did b/c after all what university administrators would tear down their own house just to rid it of mice. well, alabama state would.....oh yeah, and apparently famu. bama state adm broke in his office looking for stuff, lied on players, lied to their parents, brought in an ad just to get rid of cole, kicked people out of bot meetings b/c they were going to vote to keep cole, and when the committe found proof of no infractions by cole and staff, they publically chastised the chairman, and fired him anyway. you can probably get him cheap b/c bama state is gonna have to pay the man.lol. he's not a great communicator. he has a tendency not to let the guys play b/c he's running ck w/ me on every play and the sidelines will be chaotic on ocassion. darnell kennedy would try to ignore him on the field b/c he doesn't let the guys do what they know how to do sometimes. for that reason he's only a good, not great coach, but man can he recruit. you'll have more real football players on your campus than fine women( that's right, don't just dribble on yourself, get a napkin)

mckenzie. at bama state he was great. now he did have some of the best talent they've ever had to work with but his offense scored 45 ppg in their undefeated season. he lead them to their 1st victory over jstate in atl 28-0. produced reggie brown, reggie barlow, and a few others who had unspectacular nfl careers, but nfl careers none the less. i know he floundered as head coach at del state but I hope he learned some lessons from that.

seriously, the game wasn't a shut out. It was 28-27.

and it wasn't the 1st. We had monkey stomped them a year prior.

Sounds like you'd take LC. I agree with your assessment completely. However, even the great coaches have problems. If you have to have a problem, over-coaching your players is not a bad one to have.

Jackson State should consider interviewing Billy Joe and current Texas A&M Assistant Coach Melvin smith.. Billy Joe has history turning around losing programs and knack for winning national championship. Let's not forget that he beat both Cole and Comegy. And Comegy is former protegee of Joe as well.

It is rumored that if Comegy is hired, JSU would have to buy out his contract. It is also rumored that Tuskegee placed the buyout in the last contract due to Comegy accepting a job at another instiution in the past. Can JSU afford to buy out a contract?

Comegy will be both AD and HC. I posted this scenario when Bell was fired. There is no way that jsu will pay him the amount that he wants without doing this. Let's see if I was right. :lol:

Ps. I really haven't enjoyed jsu being down, honestly. But it has been fun kicking dat butt while you were down there. Now maybe the SWAC can be strong again and we can dump the 9 game mandate and go back to the 7 game rotation.

He's at a D2 school so it's safe to say he's not getting $150k. I still think the best choice would have been Billie Joe.
