Football Relieved of ALL APR Penalties
The Jackson State football team’s penalties stemming from its low Academic Progress Rate scores, including the team’s postseason ban this season, have been lifted, an NCAA spokesperson confirmed this afternoon.

The NCAA approved a proposal today to give low-resource schools more time to comply with APR requirements, a rule change that led to the banishment of the football team’s penalties.

Jackson State football fans who pile into Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium look to have some good news.
JSU has not confirmed yet that its penalties have been relieved, but school officials said April 14 that if the proposal passes “everythingâ€￾ would be waived.

That includes the postseason ban — a second straight for low APR scores — practice time reductions and scholarship restrictions.

The school has not yet commented.

Congrats to JSU but y'all still ain't going to be playing in the SCG anytime soon. Carry on though....

What a difference a year make. Guess JSU knew how to handle the problem after all. Great news.

Sounds like a group of HBCUs and low resource schools got together on this and pushed the NCAA. You already know it was more than us SWAC schools that complained. We shole know Duer didn't try to help us. Yall complained and I remember Stump complained and got turned down and then our bball coach got shot down for applying for the waiver from the NCAA. Don't know if Gram lobbied or not for their penalties. I would like to see who was on that teleconference that convinced the NCAA to hear our pleas. That's who all HBCUs should be thanking.

True, our university president was up before the NCAA "Brass" just this week and chastised the committee and asked them had any of them ever once stepped foot on an HBCU campus. He really got their attention from what I was told.

Where's that dude who said JSU folks should quit complaining and just take our medicine? It's a good thing many didn't listen to him.

:happydance: More dummies being recruited to run the ball and not graduate with expectations. Great job. Run Toby, Run that ball!!!! :happydance: :shame:
