Jordan shares thoughts on big scoring nights

But he's SOFT!!!!! Just face it the NBA was more talented back then than it is now. The NBA does not have fundamental skills anymore.

He IS soft... but he is the most talented extra big (7'4+) man since Ralph...who was also soft. Most of those guys that are that big are just big. At least Yao has SOME skills.

The NBA is not as bad as yall make it out to be. There is MUCH more talent across the board than in the past.

Duncan didn't play when Jordan played...

But ok... I can name more... all you did was add one to the number I gave you...and one of those was on my list.

Reggie Miller, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Vince Carter, Ray Allen... we could all name players who would be great in any era.

Like it was asked before, WHERE'S THE DEFENSE.

It's a different league geared toward scoring. In the Jordan, Magic, Bird era, this wouldn't have happened. Kobe would have been on his azz!!!!! Jordan was gracious. He didn't say what he REALLY wanted to say.

Yeah right. Yao is 7'6 with a jumper AND shoots good free throws. It is a disappointment that he averages 20 (actually he's never averaged that much for a full season).

Moses Malone at 20 would Yao Mings azz in the paint today.

Magic didn't play a lick of defense... neither did Bird. come on now. And teams were scoring much more on these "defenses". Please dispute that FACT.

Come on now. You guys keep defending a NBA that is no where near the NBA back then. Magic was far superior than any of these point guards. Yall keep getting caught up on if they can high fly. Hell TMac can't even stay healthy. Bernard King send help. Lebron, Tim Duncan, AI, KG and Kobe are all great players. DWade, Stoudamire, Carmelo and a few others would have been second tier all stars back then.

To think about it, I still haven't seen all the high flying that separates these players from 10 -15 years ago. Heck I don't think there is one player who can out leap David Thompson in his prime. This is not football where the kids are bigger and faster. Alot of these kids are actually skinnier than the old heads. Outside of a few of them most come into the league needing some weight on them. I digress. Yall think the NBA is all that now. When in reality it sucks. Nobody is watching. March Madness send help quick. I rather watch Duke and NC play than an NBA game. Case in point. Lebron is in town tonight against KG and the Wolves. Still got tickets available at the Target Center. If that would have been MJ or Magic coming in their prime.............well you know the rest.

Ditto

I think Magic made all defense one year. I know he lead the leaque in steals on year.

This kneegra said David Thompson. They iz a tad bit too young for that.

LOL @NT. Hell they act like they are too young to remember how the NBA was with Isiah Thomas, Magic, Bird, a young Jordan, Dominique, Ewing, Kareem, Moses, Gervin, Clyde Drexler, Olajuwon, etc..... The only improvement in the NBA is skill level of the power forwards like Garnett who can take you all over the floor at 7 ft. But none of them have the body to bang with the old PF.

My favorite player of all time... and he did have steals but PGs should have those. But overall...not a great defender. John Stockton is the NBA's all-time tops in steals...was he a better defender than Scottie Pippen was?

The league is horrible right now. Outside of one's favorite team, it is HARD to watch a NBA game. I remember as a kid in the 80s, I could watch Lakers vs Celtics, or Rockets vs Sixers, or Bucks vs Portland. Whew I forgot about the Bucks w/ Sidney Moncrief and that tall white boy. I digest. Anyway, the Mavericks are my team and outside of watching the Mavs play against anyone, it is VERY HARD to watch a NBA game.

Even in the 90s, it was easy to watch any two NBA teams go at it. It is just not that way now.

the NBA is much more talented today than EVER before. the crap they had BM (Before Magic) wasnt even basketball. And the era when Jordan won 6 was the worst....not to mention the NBA was going thru expansion.

saw MH...you ever seent "The Elevator from Decatur"..the white dude????

Today's players are better ATHLETES, but not better BASKETBALL players as a whole...

But I blame the Heat-Knicks series from the late 90s as the reason why basketball has abandoned hand-checking and other old school defenses...Those games were uglier than Tyrone Hill with 3-rd degree burns...

Shaq kept parking his arse in the lane?defensive 3 seconds...but as a consession...the league made it OK to play zone defense. ..The hand-checking ban and all that....all were implemented to help teams SCORE MORE points.

Just think with all that still legal back when i was growing up (early 80s-90s) more teams back then were averaging 100-plus a night.

You are stone crazy. The only reason you say that isht is because you are younger than some of us and you didn't like MJ. The NBA in the 70's may have not been all that but the 80s and the 90s were great. Like I said you folks act like there has never been a player like TMAC, Kobe, DWade, AI,etc.... There were alot of great swingmen that could score, leap and defend. The only big change is the skill level of these cats like Duncan, Garnett, Jermaine ONeal etc... But even James Worthy at 6'9 could put the ball on the floor and go to hole. So could Bird. Plus those cats were just smarter basketball players. The NBA aint isht now. That's why Stern is trying to get a grip on these cats. But if you think it is all that then only GR can be right. Talent my arse. Half of these kids don't even pan out. The only thing I will agree with you on is expansion. It has hurt the league now. Too many scrubs. Folks like Johnny Dawkins would have had a good career in the NBA if he came out of Duke now. Even MH could still play in league..:D

HUH? The 2nd and 3rd tier players of 15 years ago would be STARS in today's game. The NBA is jacked up, you know how I know. Look at the West starters in the All-Star game. T-Mac and Yao are starters. They play for the leagues WORST team this year. How can two of the league elite players be on the worst team?

T-Mac and Yao have played a total of 19 games together this season... how good do you expect the team to be at this point of the season?

They were together for more than one season.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to have 2 of the top 5 players in the West on the same team when the team they are on is the WORST team in the WEST. The top team in both division (Dallas & Detroit) don't have a starter in the All-Star game. But the worst team in all of the NBA can get 2 All-Stars and START?
