Bulldogs planto hire an offensive coordinator

Anthony Jones, in addition to serving as Alabama A&M's head football coach the last three years, has also served as the Bulldogs' offensive coordinator. Stanley Conner, who serves as running backs coach has held the title, but Jones has done the job and has called all the plays.

That is about to change.

Jones said he will hire an offensive coordinator and hopes to have him on board next month.

"I'm looking for someone that can truly help me on the offensive side because it is getting a bit much for me to do both and try to take on all of the responsibilities as a head coach," Jones said. "I'm going to hire a full-time offensive coordinator ... one that will work within what I want done."

Boy, do you have a room over at Reggie's house or something? You wake up in the mornings getting on this stuff.

It could be an interesting hire for the Bulldogs, but I am glad to see that Jones has realized that he may need some help and or a specialist.

DaHill:

Don't scare these folks that way. They don't want to face a Cole offense and a Towns's defense on the same team. This would simply be too much for other SWAC teams to handle.

Just think, the Jags might be without Pete, and the G-Men are already without Doug. The SWAC just might be ripe for our long anticipated take-over.

I will say this, if Johnny becomes the OC at AAMU, a lot of us are in trouble. I admire him and the system that he uses. If AAMU doesn't have a smart enough QB to handle his system, then AAMU will be in trouble. I will be happy if he get the job, but I'd rather it be at Bama State. The MCC will definately be a "dog fight" now or may I say a "hornet sting". This could be scary for HBCU football. And I am not lying.

It would be nice to see Cole get the job, but I know that little punk azz boy in Montgomery is already working on a plan to blackball him.

I wonder did Jones talk this over with Mighty Dog?

:) but read the article very carefully. My experiences have taught me to never expect anything and I will never be dissapointed.

In addition, every expert on the board have stated that AAMU need an offensive coordinator. Now do you think you street coaches are right and our coach will hire someone based on your assessments.

The ideal person would former JSU offensive coordinator Darryl Asberry. He is the current offensive coordinator at North Carolina Central University. NCCU had one of the top offenses in the CIAA this year. Please visit their website at www.nccu.edu or the ciaa website and check it out for yourself. Division II member NCCU finished with an 8-2 record, losing to NCAT by a game ending goal 16-15, and a loss to Fayetteville State, a team which paricipated in the divsion II playoff. Also, Central defeated MEAC member Delaware State. Of course it was stupid for JSU dumbell not to retain him.

Assberry is stupid and immature. He knows his offense, but he doesn't run the type of offense AAMU wants. I actually didn't see a problem with A&M's system, they run pretty good plays. They just dont have a lot of talent on offense. It doesn't look like Jones wants to overhaul the offense, he's just tired of doing everything himself.

Yes!!!!! :flippy: :jump:

I vote for Johnny with a leash!

I'd even take L.C. as a LB coach!

Y'all hear that page-flipping...

That's the NCAA watchdogs...ready to follow a Cole to a third college....

Caveat emptor, AAMU, Caveat emptor!!!!!

Actually, Blacknall wouldn't be a bad choice either. He's a very good football mind, and doesn't come with the baggage that JC will come with. Other than his brother, JC doesn't accept authority too well, remember Pete fired him as SU's OC a while back. I'm not sure if Jones can take somebody trying to undermind him.

JC could be a good hire, but be careful what you ask for in getting him. Not trying to smack, or to downplay the move.

NICE

Have any of you actually looked and saw the infractions that Johnnie was accused of at both TSU and ASU? They were MINOR.... at TSU it was over 250 dollars... at ASU he was riding in the same airplane as recruits.

AAMU should take a close look at Orlando at S.U. He would be a very good hire for AAMU.

THANKS! but NO THANKS! I was at the BC and SCG. SU fans called the man everything but a child of God.

Dahill, regardless how small the infraction, it's still baggage, and in both instances they caused him to lose his job, and caused a media frenzy. I think the guy is a helluva coach, and a helluva recruiter, but something just isn't right with him.

NICE
