TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT

JOB DUTIES: Reports to the Director of Public Relations and serves as the
primary staff writer for the College magazine and campaign-related
publications, and is responsible for writing content for other major
College publications and the web. Covers special events, attends meetings
as assigned for the purpose of gathering news and information for
publication. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. degree in public relations, journalism, English or a
related field. A combination of work experience and education may be
substituted. Excellent written and verbal skills. Three to five years of
experience in higher education and/or writing for newspaper, magazine,
newsletters, promotional and marketing publications in a corporate or
non-profit organization required. Excellent knowledge of computer
applications and software (Access, Excel and Power Point, Photo Shop);
Ability to work some evenings and weekends. NOTE: Please submit two
writing samples with resume.

TITLE: PROJECT SUPPORT SPECIALIST
DEPARTMENTS: ALUMNI RELATIONS/ INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT

JOB DUTIES: Reports to the Director of Alumni Relations and serves as
support to the director and other units of OIA by providing timely
accurate administrative support for special events, projects and database
management. Special projects include A Candle in the Dark Gala, Alumni
data for phonathon, Homecoming, National Alumni Association, Alumni
Directory and Reunion-Commencement and the Development Center. Serves as
data specialist for Raisers Edge and Banner. Compiles and provides data
analysis for parent and council, senior interviews and young alumni
council. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. degree preferred. Desires significant experience with
planning events. Excellent written and verbal skills. A combination of
work experience and education may be substituted. At least five years of
special event-project coordination work experience required. Excellent
knowledge of computer applications and software (Access, Excel and Power
Point), database management, Raisers Edge or other event management
tools; Banner desired. Type 65 wpm.

TITLE: MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER
DEPARTMENTS: CORPORATE RELATIONS/ INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT

JOB DUTIES: Reports to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations
and is responsible for managing, cultivating and soliciting a portfolio of
major donor prospects comprised of alumni, corporations, foundations and
individuals. Additionally, this candidate will be responsible for
recruiting and staffing fund-raising volunteers and events and integrating
capital and endowed gift opportunities in the Colleges capital campaign.
This position may require some travel. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree; at least three years of related work
experience in fundraising; and strong oral and written communication and
organizational skills. A strong knowledge of computer software
applications is essential.

TITLE: GRANTS AND PROPOSAL WRITER
DEPARTMENTS: CORPORATE RELATIONS/INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT
OPENING DATE: REPOST MARCH 22, 2004
CLOSING DATE: UNTIL FILLED
CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT

JOB DUTIES: Reports to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations
and is responsible for developing and writing grant proposals, reports,
correspondence, marketing and other written materials in collaboration
with institutional advancement staff and college faculty. As a liaise to
corporate and foundation donors/prospects, the grant writer will have the
responsibility of coordinating Morehouse Colleges written approach and/or
response to opportunities in the public and private sectors. Performs
other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree; at least three years or more of
demonstrated successful experience in nonprofit grant writing, preferably
for higher education. A working knowledge of prospect research
techniques/ resources and experience in other types of writing assignments
is desired. Other essential skills include superb writing, editing, and a
strong knowledge of computer software applications.
