Jason Whitlock blasts McNair

I think what I drew from the column was that McNair's desire to be with the 20-year-old woman cost his sons a father.

Let he who is faultless or sinless cast the 1st stone. Whitlock should just shut up about it. All of us have done dirt @ some pt in life. :retard:

Whitlock is a trip. How does he know that McNair didn't take time out for his children and spend any time. He don't know that. Just because he had an affair or whatever it was......don't mean he didn't be a father.

Hell I saw men back in the day go out all the time chasing skirts but shole made time for their kids. Now their wives may have not gotten any attention but their kids did.

I had no problem with the rest of the article......just the reference to not spending time with his kids. Didn't they just say Mac just got back from a vacation in Mexico with his children?

Whitlock is an asshole. He - nor any of us - know what was going on with Steve and his family nor how he was handling his relationships with his family. I am not one to make excuses for anyone - but at the same time I recognize protocal and timing. Just because you can say/write/do something, that doesn't mean you should. I hate what happend with Steve, I had a personal relationship with him, working various camps etc with him and just knowing him thru Eddie Rob from Bama State and going to Titan games. I dont condone what he did with that youngsta - but I am sure there are tons of things others might not condone what I do. By the way - I am 43 - my wife is 25 and we are GOOD - Trust me. I only point that out because I have read so many comments regarding age etc - it's all in personal preferance and how you make your relationship work.

I miss Steve, I am mad at him...but I love him. And just for the record he was and will always be regarded as a leader within the many communities he touched. I am sure Steve McNair - even though he "didn't spend time with his boys" has done more in his short lifetime servicewise than Jason Whitlock.

One of my mentors, Jerry Izenberg, who recently retired after more than half a century of sportswriting for the Newark Star-Ledger, offered me a nugget of wisdom: "If you're in this business long enough," he said, "you learn that if you're a sportswriter -- a serious, dedicated full-time newspaperman -- then you don't have a job. What you've got is a mistress.

And mistresses make demands. You'll pay for her one way or another. I paid her price in tons of coffee gulped on the run from plastic cups and in holidays spent away from my family while I was on the road. Mostly, though, I paid her price in loss of innocence through exposure to the evil side of sports in America.

Steve McNair wasn't my idol, though I admired him very much. I interviewed him when he became the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Titans in 1997 and a couple of other times over the years, but I knew him better through common friends, and I wrote about him a great deal.

But like just about everyone else, it seems, I didn't know him as well as I thought I did. McNair, it turns out, also had a mistress -- a real, not a metaphorical one.

Say what you want dude is on point. You can't be two places at the same time and support kids ain't all about money. He had time to do all that over there---> He wasn't over here.

Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah, :uzi:

But we don't know that.

So yall are basically saying Mac couldn't have spent quality time with his kids because he was out with some mistress of a few months? Come on.

None of us know how much time he spent with his kids.

That's like saying just because a man is not living in the house with his kids because of divorce then he aint spending no time with his kids because of his other stuff going on.

Whitlock is on point about the kids being the biggest losers because they lost their Dad. But I can't agree with him that the dude was too busy chasing some babe to spend time with his kids. We don't know that and Whitlock don't either.

Thank you...and again other than Meshelle and those boys, no one knows.

I feel what you're saying JR. While I don't condone adultery or anything like that, we have no idea how much time he was spending with his kids. Was McNair's wife stepping out on him? Did she kick him out of the house and threaten to get custody of the kids if he didn't leave? Were they having marital problems prior to all this? Those details have not been revealed.

Quality time is nothing without quantity. What we do know is ALL of the time that he spent chasing after a woman that was not the mother of those 4 sons was quality and quantity lost to them...and the association with that woman resulted in his death, terminating both quality and quantity time future to those same 4 sons.

If you are interested in hearing him discuss this further, as I am sure he will, Whitlock will be the guest host on the Jim Rome show Friday. So you have a chance to see if you can get on the air to debate him on this. Then again, he could be like Rome and not take listener calls from anyone that disagrees with him.

Robert Gaddy: Steve McNair had no plans to divorce

Steve McNair and his wife were selling their Nashville home to buy another one, not to prepare for a divorce, said the longtime friend who called 911 after McNair's bloodied body was found Saturday.

Robert Gaddy said talk that the former Titans quarterback and his wife, Mechelle, were splitting is off base.

People need to quit talking about what they don't know. Mac never said anything to me about he was going to get a divorce, and ever since this has all happened everybody is trying to paint a certain picture and they need to talk about what they know," Gaddy said Tuesday. He has been friends with McNair for nearly 20 years, dating to their playing days in college.

Gaddy said the McNairs' house in the Green Hills section of Nashville is on the market because they were moving somewhere else together. A local real estate agent said he showed another house to the McNairs more than six months ago.
"People can have all the theories they want, but we haven't even put my man to rest yet or put him in the ground," Gaddy said. "Show some respect for the family. It's crazy.''

Gaddy also defended another friend's decision not to immediately call police after first arriving at the crime scene on Saturday. "The man just panicked,'' Gaddy said of Wayne Neely, who rented the condominium with McNair.

By your standard, no man(or woman) with children should be able to date. Like his friend said, people need to stop talking about what they don't know. People close to his family said for a fact that he doted on those kids and spent plenty of time with them. I know that's hard for a perfect brother like yourself to understand, but its the truth.

Thank you!!! Folk act like the brotha ain't doing a thing if he can't say he spent every moment of his time with his kids. None of us do that. We love to speculate, then judge off our own imaginations. :smh:

Hmmmmm..

JR,

You can't talk to these black women about this. The ONLY article that should be written right now would be on people's thoughts on how to deal with your estranged spouse. Besides, if Whitlock is right, then every man who divorces his wife is not supporting his kids. I am still trying to understand how Steve is such a bad guy for having a girlfriend when it was obvious that he and his wife were no longer together. Who is to say that she does not have a boyfriend. Did his "wife" go on this trip with Steve and the boys to Mexico?

Agree with most that have posted regarding what we 'dont' know' and will never know about Steve's or anyone else's personal affairs. It will always be hearsay. I feel for the sons. Period. And in the end Whitlock is right about who will ultimately truly suffer, the boys. I'm not even getting into the affair and how old she was, etc, etc. We have four boys who will forever have to live with this. And that's what's really sad.

But must Whitlock ALWAYS be so smug and crass in getting his point across? He continues to write as if he's talking to his boys at the strip clubs. Is there ever a place for that except in personal blogs or a personal web site? Maybe I'm just a tad sensitive, but he has no tact and never has.

"...and you probably should've surmised I get my "Becky on" from time to time. Was that even necessary???

Seriously?

"..well, let he who has never Captained cast the first hoe.
