I am watching him now play against So. Miss in the New Orleans bowl. That boy is for real.

And he is only a freshman.

yes he is a beast...he's in fast company..he, Barry Sanders and Marcus Allen only NCAA freshmen to have 5 200-yard games in a season

He's from Longview where Rogers Taylor (No. 88 from SU) is from..and both came out at the same time... But Thomas, i see went to Springhill HS while Taylor went to Longview HS

I saw him play this season in Lafayette against my school, "the school formerly known as USL." In the first half, a linebacker (from Ferriday) put a hit on him and he looked like he didnt want to run anymore. I can't say that I blamed him. It was a vicious hit. He looked shaky for the rest of the first half but after halftime, he came out running like a man on a mission. He's the real deal.

The thing about him is that he came in as a freshman and had to replace the nation's leading rusher, Patrick Cobbs, from last year (Cobbs had to sit out this year because of an injury) and now he's the nation's leading rusher. They have a good offensive line. In his first game ever he rushed for nearly 250 yards against Colorado.

However, I do not think Thomas is a better runner than Ryan Moats from Louisiana Tech. In fact, I think Moats is the best in college football now. He is truly a beast and will be in an NFL uniform after next season. Moats is a Texan as well.

The running back at Longview high had 195 yards against Lufkin in the 5A quarterfinals this year. East Texas in loaded with running back this year.

Names to remember; Jawvorsky Lane(Lufkin High School), Jackie Robinson(Marshall)

 Yep. There's one more... 6'2"/235lbs 4.52 40 from...... Dual sport athlete (bball/fball). Somebody's gonna' get a steal.

I can't wait for us to unleash our beast (hopefully) next fall. We snagged this one from a perennial powerhouse.

The linebacker from Ferriday is Stanley Smith. Dude was a beast in High school...kept waiting for the call from Grambling that never happened.

Thomas is a good back, but I agree that Moats was better (he's an upperclassman). I would like to see the Gmen play North Texas for recruiting purposes in the Dallas (North/East Texas) area.

Speaking of playing Texas schools, I think GSU needs to contact Sam Houston State about a two year home and home. In the years that TxSU comes to GSU, we could play Sam Houston in Huntsville. A reward to our Houston signees/players that we play in Houston every year.

Home and home w/ SHSU?

They'll be more apt to do a home w/ you @ their house but I don't get the feeling that they wanna' travel to YOUR home. lol Coming out of the 80s, I got the impression that we HBCUs were a threat to them (recruiting wise). lol

ntx is an overrated I-AA ball club w/ no fan base. They're JUST now getting recruits in the d/fw area. :smh:

I really wish that coaches would RECRUIT guys who are track stars. They're the most athletically gifted ones. JThomas was a sprinter in hs (2nd in state if memory serves correct methinks....). I'd LIVE @ the tx/La/Ms/Al hs state track finals for underclassmen to recruit (dual sport track-fball/bball/basebl/...).

My only interest in playing either of them is to give us two games in Dallas and at least one game in the Houston area each year. We recruit those two areas and there's plenty of talent in Texas!

it's about the gate...SHSU and GSU won't draw....Dallas folks only support 1 game.

and your right..SHSU wants you at their house 1st....

Hmmmm... that would really be interesting now that I think about it because the game would be played in denton not dallas and I don't get the impression that dallasers would drive the whopping 32 miles (from downtown) to denton to see unt play anybody. lol There'll be 18 people in the stands and I wouldn't be one of them and I do reside 5 miles from their stadium. lol

Even if GSU did a home-and-home w/ shsu, it wouldn't draw beans because Huntsville is ~ what...60+ sum odd miles from Houston, right? Seriously, what Negro in their bad mind would drive from Houston to the sticks to catch that game? lol Besides GSU alumni of course.

BF is right, dallas people of color only know one game and that's GSU-PVU. Period.

But we're talking about Grambling playing these folk, not PVU. No one would go see these schools put 70plus on PVU and I can't blame them. I'm willing to think that with the large number of Grambling fans in the Dallas Metroplex, the interest would be high enuff to get fans to drive to Denton and also to Grambling.

Question...when PVU played the Nation in Dallas what was the attendance? So apparently the attraction for our annual game AIN"T PV!

You are right. It is about the gate and we would have no problems selling out Bobcat Stadium, now it would be a different story if we played them at Gram.

Steve McNair, one of the greatest players in SWAC History, did not sell out Bobcat Stadium......you surely won't get close to that..

What school did Steve McNair attend?

You don't even believe what you just typed Bigg. I know you don't. The LAST time we did shsu, we beat them in their house. :|

It was ~50K+ when SU/PVU did dallas. Not bad for a FIRST showing in the metroplex huh? :emlaugh:

The following week, we capacitied the cotton bowl w/ GSU. I guess that GSU is the "draw" of n tx........:emlaugh: Please. Your alumni base is big but it ain't the BIGGEST here. ;) I've lived in this putrid area for 13+ years now and I'm telling you, because I take the pulse of this God forsaken area, GSU would not take over denton in any shape, form, or fashion. Well, I take that back. Y'all prolly would because unt gets nada/nil support from the locals. :smh: W/ GSU's 300 fans and unt's 3000 fans, clearly it would be a huge sellout in that old stadium......:|........ :slap:

Next. :slap:

No problems selling the stadium out?

Are these the same people that played infront of a little over 5,000 people in the Astrodome this past season? Do you really expect those same people to drive the 60-70 miles to Huntsville just to watch grambling? Please, you couldn't even sell out your OWN stadium against mcneese and thats more of a rival than sam houston.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Maybe it was raining inside the dome Storm! :emlaugh: 2 hot? 2 cold? lol

Listen to this now. Leave Houston proper and go to hickville azz Huntsville for a football game. :| That doesn't even sound right. lol A casual fan will not do that. A GSU supporter/alumnus would though and I don't think that there are that many GSU alumnus in the Houston area to help sellout bobcat stadium. Even w/ the run that shsu just had, they didn't sell their own stadium out. :emlaugh: lol rotf :slap:

Um...people who had to go visit their cousin/uncle/brother/daddy/babydaddy in the state pen earlier that day???? :headphone

How come GSU don't play Stephen F. Austin...isn't Nacogdoches somewhat closer to Grambling than Sam Houston State...Geographically speaking...Gram could play SFA in the 'Pote (local slang for Shreveport) or get an h-and-h???

Ouch!!!!! lol

Yep, regionally speaking Nacogdoches would be a LOT closer. But still.... the question about selling out their stadium yet alone GSU's would be an issue. :|

Of course we don't want Gram to do that because they may get Nacogdoches on lock like they got Houston and dallas on lock. :|.....:slap: lol

And also the band would strike a few more people's interest.
