Jackson State vs Mississippi Valley State Game Updates: 2:00pm CT

Even in the Rice era they never won a championship, resources is the key. Not millions but enough to fund scholarships. Where has “In the 662” been today?

This didn't have anything to do with resources. This was ALL on the coaches failing to make ANY 2nd half adjustments and getting bailed out by Bryant's legs on that last drive in regulation (that and that first TD that shouldn't have counted due to illegal touching). Casey struggled and JSU made a QB change. We insist on sticking with a 5'8 turnover prone QB with a sub-50% completion percentage this year. He was barely above 46% before entering this game and holding true to form he completed under 50% of his passes.

After some behind the scenes stuff that happened this week, I am almost ready to throw in the towel on this staff (including Dancy) because they seem to be stuck on Bryant being the best QB to win yet we are 1-6 (when we easily could be 5-2) and whatever faith Valley alums had in them is almost all but gone. If you are this stubborn when it comes to sticking with Bryant and the OC, then you will be stubborn about other personnel moving forward.

I can remember some JSU people saying that Robinson could start on 7 out of 10 teams in the SWAC and I replied to not be surprised if Bryant got the nod because of what I saw in the spring. Now everyone is seeing that I knew what I was talking about I saw that they would be going to a RPO type system. They need to send Powers back to SCSU with that basic playbook that everyone can figure out within 1 quarter of football. You go and get these big and speedy receivers from JUCO but we don't have a QB who can consistently throw them the ball over 25 yards outside of fade routes

And everyone in the nation was seeing how Johnson could be the best RB in the SWAC if he stays next year but we give him about 10-15 carries max and then refuse to go back to him even after seeing him being successful because the coaching stuff wants to put the ball in the hands of a turnover prone 5'8 QB who probably should be a WR.

I can’t say a lot about Jackson State because I don’t get to see/watch all of their games. I can only really go by their games against my boys, and Jackson State always plays a full, 4-quarter game. I’ve said this before in game threads, I’m saying it again now, and hope to God I WILL NOT have to say it again on November 2nd.....

No matter the score, up or down, Jackson State won’t stop playing! They just won’t go away! They just won’t die!

I couldn’t trust them to do that, which is why I picked them over Valley.

Teams typically score 30 or more points on use. Valley scored 28. What Valley did differently (except for TnSt) was to allow us to score over 30 pts. So yeah, good play calling and QB play could have won the game, but your defense (and special teams) is what really cost Valley the game.

Valley coach in my opinion is getting the best out of what he has to work with. Come on eith 34 scholarships that is resources at the roots.

I think Valley's clock management during their last drive in Regulation play was among the best I've ever seen in this Conference!

Get valley some scholarships and they gone hurt a lot of programs feelings. I like what y’all got there... just need depth. As I said, no disrespect to valley but this was a loss to how far JSU has fallen this year... if the defense wasn’t playing so sorry we could’ve actually seen what Casey could do. I like this freshman rb we unleashed that boy is going to be a monster. We need to get folks off the injured reserve stat smh. Keep your head up valley it takes time to build or in our case get back to something great. Don’t get impatient like we did @In_The_662

Kentucky State ran the ball for almost 400 yards on yall

Grambling ran on yall

Alabama State ran the ball which set up the pass

Instead of us continuing to run the ball (which we were doing consistently with Johnson early) we got up 21-0 and then decided to go away from it. Even when the score was tied in the 4th quarter and we had the ball instead of running it we decided to go with out passes. JSU gets the ball back and runs it down the field while chewing up clock. That is Valley's season in a nutshell. The D has to play lights out when the offense stalls out (and they stalled out for 2 quarters until that last drive) and that is hard to do without depth (plus one of our best DL was in shorts yesterday due to injury)

As many of us said in the stands yesterday, that wasn't on the players. That was on the coaches for not putting them in the position to win. That and coaches not knowing how to coach to win (playing on winning teams like Dancy and the DL coach is one thing)

BTW you scored 21 points on us in regulation. The refs gave you 7 with a clear illegal touching TD.

Half of jsu scholarships need to be taken and given to MVSU because clearly jsu don't know what to do with them.....

Didnt y'all just struggle with txsu. Have you no shame lmao

Hit dogs......eeerrhh Tigers will.....If you got skull dragged by D-2 Kentucky State and need officials to deliver you from MVSU who only have half the scholarships you have in OT, I say jsu need to give up those scholarships to MVSU because you're wasting the good folks of Mississippi money.

You just proved my point. You can't put a lot of the blame on the QB. Dude threw for 3 TDs and ran for one. All the stuff you just listed doesn't have anything to do with him.

You've gotten drugged by D2s and still kept your schollys so thanks lol

I have a question? It seems like we have been talking about Valley not having all their scholarships for some time now.
When have they had the full amount??

Valley is just is a similar situation that PV was years ago before they started investing resources in the program. I do agree unless the administrators start supporting the program not much will change.
