I don't know why our dumb announcers wanted Valley to go for 2. It would have done them no good.

I wonder what our defensive gameplan was in the fourth...it appears that we were playing soft. Valley had the ball all quarter and really did nothing with it.

I think our defense plays that "bend, but dont break" defense. Kinda like what Bell tried.

No, this was not nearly as soft as Bell's defense.

The difference between this week and last week is that we played better in the first 3 quarters. I think we backed off in the 4th.

Just in from the Game...

For the record, the difference between Comegy's style of D and Bell's is night and day. We now play a very aggressive style of D, sending extra people on almost every down - and it worked tonite. The downside is we rely heavily on our CBs, which led to us almost getting burnt on several occassion. Thankfully our DBs know how to grab and hold when they get beat - that saved at least 2 TDs. But a good passing team will work us. Nelson missed on several other long passes when we were beat.

As for the game itself, we looked pretty good in my opinion. Valley has pretty good talent, especially at the skill positions and in their front 7. But we have better coaching and are even more talented. Once we settled down after they jumped on us 10-0, we pretty much dominated. It was 29-7 from there until they scored at the end.

Oliver looked much better this game. And our redzone offense is a killer. Once we go to that 3 back, 2 TE set, it's over inside the 10. I don't think we've had to attempted a FG from inside the 10 all year.

A couple more things...

The crowd was excellent, at least 40K. But it was HS day.

The secondary is weak only because we leave those guys on an island with no safety help.

Our tackling needs some serious help.
