Whoa! Summa Cuma Laude halftime show!!! Thanks for posting.

An aerial or drone view of the drill routine will reveal something totally new that the Boom hasn’t done before. They have done so many different shows this season. It’s just amazing.

JSU's Sonic Boom set to rock the Tournament of Roses Parade. See how to watch

Jackson State University's Sonic Boom of the South will add another feather to its cap next week.

The JSU band will perform at the 136th Tournament of Roses Parade on Jan. 1, 2025, in Pasadena, California.

The Rose Parade features flower-covered floats and select marching bands and entertainers. The parade is part of the celebration leading up to the Rose Bowl football game. The 2025 Rose Bowl will host one of the quarterfinal games between Ohio State and Oregon in the expanded College Football Playoffs.

The parade, however, is actually older than the bowl game. The first Rose Parade was held in 1890, while the bowl game did not begin until 1902 in a contest between Michigan and Stanford.

JSU participating in this year's Rose Parade is just the latest event for the 300-member band.

The Sonic Boom has made appearances throughout the nation, including playing for Motown and the NAACP Image Awards.

They've played at NFL halftime shows for the Atlanta Falcons, the New Orleans Saints and the Cincinnati Bengals, among others. They've been featured in magazines, documentaries and enshrined in the NCAA Hall of Champions in Indianapolis.

Just last year the Jackson State band made an appearance during the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show.

How to watch

The Rose Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, on NBC television and Peacock will provide streaming coverage.
