Jackson Mayor Frank Melton

players,
Didn't Mayor Frank try to clean up neighborhoods and didnt he fight the drug dealers?

man.
Frank Melton bought a bus load of former drug dealer's and thugs to that house with him to tear it down.
Melton has broke laws from city level to federal level.

Frank Melton has not got one drug dealer that matters off the street's since he been Mayor.
In fact, all the meddling he did cause 7 of the worst killer's/dealers in this city to walk free.
The overall crime rate has went up double digit's on his watch.

Frank's supporters alway's talking about what Frank Melton has done but whenever someone ask these same people to list his accomplishment's they can't name one.
They get all hot, bothered and start yelling and clowning.

And most folks that say he is doing such a good job don't even live in Jackson. Folks here at work talking about he's cleaning up the city and all this bs. Bet they won't offer to take his arse to Madison, or Rankin County.

Man, Frank is just what the City of Jackson needed. It needed a guy like Frank, just like America needed a guy like Bush.

LOL @ Beans. You aint right bruh.:shame: My hometown deserves better than Frank Melton. So much potential is there......just need someone with some common sense as well as business saavy to get in there and do the job a Mayor is supposed to do.

As bad as the economy is now......this will be the time to see what companies may want to move from their expensive areas and relocate to a more cost friendly city. You need a good Mayor, good city council and other civic leaders to get that kind of dialogue going. Frank Melton has no clue. All he cares to do is be some super crime fighter. Most smart Mayors hire a hard core Police Chief to do all that. The stuff going on at the crib with Melton could be a TV series. "The Wire" send help. LOL.

Exactly!!!

JR I think beans means now the dummys will find a real mayor. Franks has shown them what a plum fool looks like..You know kind of like Bush did...

Like I said.
harvey Johnson is responsable for everything being developed in Jackson right now.
he was a City Planner before he was Mayor.
Looking back at it, Harvery Johnson 2 problems was:

#1) He did pay law enforcement any attention.
He didn't get involved at all and hired the wrong police Chief's.

#2) We all said he moved too slow and didn't involve many people in the planning loop.
But looking back on it, every project Harvey Johnson put up has panned out to be well planned, funded, backed, and just what Jackson needed to grow.

If Harvey Johnson was the Mayor with McMillian as Police Chief, he would have never got voted out.
Chief Moore was a negative splotch. I'll have to disagree and say there were many people working on planning projects as well as other initiatives. It just took too long to say, "Go!"

And most folks that say he is doing such a good job don't even live in Jackson. Folks here at work talking about he's cleaning up the city and all this bs. Bet they won't offer to take his arse to Madison, or Rankin County.
Okay! Thank God I seldom watch the news.

Frank should be given some credit for fixing all the potholes.

They're fixed?? Last time I was in Jackson, I was still dodging them. lol Then again, I-55 between Lakeland and Fortification Street, I believe, has been paved. Other than that, it's a wash.

Frank Melton stays in the courtroom more than his downtown office. I haven't seen him perform many "Mayoral" duties except exercise his power to remove people from office.

I pray for the best candidate to win in Jackson. The city can't afford another Frank Melton-type fool.

The city of Jackson is way under-budget when it comes to road repair. Jackson's budget for roads is in the same neighborhood with towns like Hattiesburg and Meridian. One year, I had 3 tires blowout- all on Northside Drive. :smh:

Unfortunately, this is one of those things that will have to take a backseat for now. Too many other problems and issues to deal with.

Jackson will benifit from the stimulus of this administration. Streets have been slated to be fixed.

But potholes and unkept highway mediums were some of my gripes with Harvey. Man that Red clay shifts and if you don't built it right look out..

Northside drive was so bad I wouldn't even take it.

I think a lot of people didn't understand that with Harvey. You have to sacrifice some things at first. People weren't looking at the big picture. Harvey knew that if he strategically rebuilt downtown, tourism and businesses in Jackson would flourish. That would create revenues for your infrastructure. And he did just that by selling the city on The Telcom/ Convention Center (now built), Farish Street District (in progress) and The King Edward Project (in progress).

For some reason, Jacksonians didn't see this. People were convinced that crime was just sooooo bad and that was the reason Jackson was failing. For one, I can look at cities like New Orleans, Atlanta and Miami and tell you that crime rates do not influence economic development in cities. Secondly, crime rates were higher before and after Harvey's terms. :smh:

Like I said: bamboozled! I was really disappointed in my city when people drank the magic Kool-Aid. And to top it off, crime is even worse now, blight is still in abundance, and now you have a mayor that has wasted the city's money, time, energy and resources with his own stupid antics. He can't even tend to the City's needs because he too busy going to trial every other month.

Cheif Malcom mcMillon stepped down yesterday.
This shat get's better and better.:(

Man I knew that would happen. Dude has been the sherrif of Hind county for a minute. Why would he stress himself out with the city of Jackson. He must have signed a one year deal with the devil.

Nope.
He took the job when Chief "NO SHOW" Shirley Anderson was finally put out of her misery.
When she "stepped down", people was turning that job down left and right.
Sherriff McMillin was the only one King Frank could get that everybody knew would not be a puppet.
After all, McMillin was the one that arrested king Frank when all this stuff hit the fan.

He got tired of all the meddling.
He is still the Sherriff of Hinds county.
Everybody knew that McMillin would tell Melton to kiss his butt if he had to and could just say fugg it and leave anytime he wanted.

Wlbt-TV3 Story/Video New Chief

WLBT-TV3 McMillin say he can't support Melton in Re-Election Bid-- Story/Video

Change of command.

McMillin tendered his letter of resignation at 10:30 a.m. and crossed the street to the Hinds County Sheriff's Department, where he remains sheriff.
"If you wish me to resign, on your re-quest, I will tender my resignation," McMillin said in the letter to Jackson Mayor Frank Melton.
Less than four hours after accepting the resignation, Melton tapped Deputy Police Chief Tyrone Lewis to be interim chief, making him the city's fourth top cop in less than two years and furthering the department's revolving door of leaders.
McMillin said he quit JPD because he could no longer align himself politically with his boss, the mayor.

McMillin tired of Chief's meddling.

This town wasn't big enough for the two of them.
Two men, both stubborn as 100 mules, gave it a shot but in the end their prodigious egos got the best of them.
First, Sheriff Malcolm McMillin's departure from his second job as Jackson's police chief was called a firing. But Jackson Mayor Frank Melton quickly corrected himself and said McMillin tendered his resignation. It was bound to happen.
Under McMillin, the control-crazed Melton had lost his influence over the Police Department. Gruff and full of self-confidence, McMillin was perhaps the one person in the Melton administration strong enough to tell the mayor to take a hike when it came to Police Department affairs.

McMillion was sick of Frankie all up in his business. Malcom knew what to do but Frankie always tried to put his two cents in. Tyrone has been with the dept. for a while, but I don't htink he is police chief material.

umm players,
I didnt read the links, but was the same guy serving as police chief and sheriff?

Yep.
He's still the Sheriff of Hind's county.

I agree that he's not. Probably more of a puppet for Melton, than anything. And Lewis hasn't been a model of ethics, himself. He came under fire a few months ago when he was letting his son use the Police Academy to throw parties for 100% profit. Didn't even have insurance on the place.
