GR does not have to say it. But I will say this. Discipline plays a big part. I have seen Pete and LC do some things that let the players know that they would not be making mistakes and play. Even when we had Shannon, if our starting QB threw 2 int's, he got benched. Asberry did not do that. In 2000, Nate played against TNState and put us up 14-0 (Before Story caught Kent's first complete pass of the night in his first start) by making 2 consecutive 40-50 yard runs. Then when Nate fumbled the ball twice, he was benched in the same game. We lost a lot of games after 2000 because of coaching. Even in 2001, the defense was good enough to beat A&T and AlaState but the offense turned the ball over a combined 13 times and we lost those games by a combined 10 points. That was 9-2 season and a SCG berth going down the drain. In 2000, MAYBE we deserved our 7-4 season becasue we were starting over after losing so much but 2001 and 2002 were easily 9-2 teams and the right coaching would have got us the Bham and maybe even brought the title back to Jackson.
I can't see Bell letting things like that happen. He is not letting it ride at practice and he won't let it ride at the games. We have always had talent at JSU and since Big Daddy left, we have had no clue about how to use it. Big Daddy and Shannon would have been SWAC champs in 1999 just like they were in 1995 and 1996. Hughes and Kelly did not have a clue.
Ya'll in big trouble now. Back then we ran the ball as much as we passed and it seems that we are about to get back to that. Poor JSU opponents.
